View Full Version : Fish Oil Dosage?

I started taking Spectrum Essentials Omega 3 Norwegian Fish Oil.

It's 1,000 mg for each softgel. It says EPA 180mg/DHA 120mg.

I have an anxiety with taking anything like pills, gelcaps and such...and I can't find this stuff in just liquid form so what I end up doing is splitting the gelcaps and just squeezing the oil out into a spoon. Kinda stupid I know....

But I have a dosage question. The bottle says to take 2-6 softgels daily with meals.

I also take flaxseed oil, and as another poster suggested I started taking a tablespoon of the flax oil with breakfast and then I'll cut 3 softgels and put them in a spoon at lunch, and then 4 at dinner.

So my question is does anyone else take a different dosage? So far I feel amazing.

There are still moments where I'm nervous that my prior mental and fatigue issues are going to return, but most of the time I feel amazing now.

When I get up in the morning, even if it's only after 6 hours of sleep, I can get up and start doing things instead of laying around yawning for 2 hours.

Not only that, but weed originally triggered my panic attacks I used to get...and insanely raised my anxiety issues. I had my first time in the same room with people smoking that stuff, and used to when I got second hand inhaled I'd freak out and have a panic attack. Now after taking these two supplements. Nothing. Absolutely no anxiety at all.

I know not everyday will be quite that perfect, but this stuff is a godsend to me. Anyone else have alot of success with this stuff?

Plague,

A decent dosage is a total of 1,000 mg. DHA +EPA per day. Since each of your pills totals 300, a total of 4 pills is 1,200. That should be enough.

If you find a Vitamin Shoppe or anyone who sells liquid cod liver oil, a tsp. is 900 mg. EPA + DHA. THe unflavored is delicious and this is the cheapest way to take it. Best price for a 12 ounce bottle, 72 daily doses, is a little less than $7.

I'm currently working my way through a heap of the horse pills that I bought when Target was having a 2 for 1 sale that made the capsules the SAME price....less than a dime a day but I can take 20 pills in one gulp so I have no problems.

I think Carlson makes a plain fish oil supplement in the liquid form. I believe I saw it in the Vitamin Shoppe. Of course, it's not dirt cheap, and you will have to keep it refrigerated once you open it. But if you have an aversion to capsules, you may want to check out the Carlson product.

What I normally use is TWIN LABS Norwegian Cod Liver oil that I buy at VITAMIN SHOPPE. It comes in plain, mint and cherry flavors. Plain is tasty, mint is very UNtasty and the cherry tastes like DEATH!

A 12 ounce bottle of marked $7.16 but they always have SOME kind of sale going on. Once I got 40% off and bought out several stores.
