Hello all!

Here is a little background info on me: I am a 20 yr old Female that was diagnosed with IBS at the beg. of this year. After not going to the bathroom (#2) for almost 2 months I thought I might go to the Doctor. After several tests, colonoscopy included as well as many different medications and laxatives, I am now a Zelnorm user. I am still having bathroom issues, not going for several days at a time. Then when I do go it is a rough go at it, if you get my hint; sorry if TMI :) I get very nausea after I eat anything...I have tried taking the Zelnorm right before a meal, during, and after. I am now taking it 1 hour prior to any meals and having a little better luck. I still get major bloating and gas as well as lots of cramps in my stomach and lower pelvic region. I also may add that I have a mass in my liver that seems to come and go per the doctor but is nothing life threataning. Maybe I need a new doctor?? Anyone have any ideas on how to make it all better?

Thanks for your ideas! :bouncing:

Hi Becca,
I have had IBS for nearly ten years now and still to this day I try alternative medicines and therapies but still get alot of problems with my IBS. I have the other side of your toilet trouble diahorea, and go several times a day whatever I eat, sometimes it is okay and I do get some very good days. I think your constipation is a problem that needs more help, I would suggest you say to your doctor can he refer you to a Gastroenterologist as it sounds very troublesome your constipation. I know you have probably heard this before but diet is very important, my suggestion is going to a Nutrition expert or a health food shop and have an allergy test done to define what areas of food categories could make your constipation worse, constipation is hard to control I have a friend who had similar trouble to you and could not use the toilet for weeks. So my first suggestion is go back to your doctor and get him to refer you to a Gastroenterologist he will at least offer some very good advice and maybe suggest the allergy test. I also had a stools test, there is a place in the U.S. that will examine your stools, sounds horrible but they test for everything that goes into your body and try to determine why you have constipation or in my case diahorea. This is a couple of options Becca and maybe you have tried some of them but maybe it is worth looking into good luck

Hello Becca
I am a 53 year old female living with ibs(d) for over 30 years now. Although my main symptom is the opposite to yourself some of the diet/supplement recommendations are the same. Firstly, I would ask do you drink plenty of water? That would be my first advice to you.
Secondly, adding a SOLUBLE fiber supplement to your daily regime should also help - although I would stress that a fiber supplement has to be taken very gradual and built up over a period of weeks and also in terms of stability and control it will take some months. I also take Acidopholus daily but I do not know if this helps with C.
Unfortunately I am not allowed to recommend other sites to you so I would just suggest that you maybe do an internet search for soluble fiber and see what comes up.

Have you tried prune juice as soon as you wake up in the am? Has to be on an empty stomach. This stuff really straightened my IBS-C problem. Within an hr it kicks in, and your good and cleaned out all day.

peace

I had another doctor's appt today with my specialist. They drew more blood and I have another series of tests on the 11th. In addition to my Zelnorm they also have started me on "KRISTALOSE" 1x daily. Has anyone ever tried this? I drink TONS of water during the day. I haven't did the prune juice thing or any other type of laxative per my doctor's advice bc I am on Zelnorm 2x daily. I am getting desperate though, tired of being C all the time and bloated...I am usually around 117LBS but I look like I am 6 months pregnant!! Crazy, wish me luck. Hopefully these tests come back soon!
