Hi Everyone.
I am hoping that someone could give me some advice on the symptoms that I am experiencing. Back in 2001 I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer and had an extended( wethiems) hysterectomy. The surgery was successful but I had some complications and need further surgery to repair a vaginal/bladder fistula. I then had 5 weeks of Radiotherapy but about 8 weeks later I had a bowel obstruction ( due to Radiotherapy) and needed further surgery( right hemi-collectomi). Since all this happened I have suffered with bowel problems ( diarrhoea ) and obviously I have been menopausal. I have also suffered with depression but luckily- I have had no secondary cancer and I will be out of remission in January 2006. The problems that I have had more recently had been a gradual build up of various symptoms which I have only just began to connect together. I am always incredibly tired, infact i'm tired on waking up in the mornings. I know it sounds strange but at night, my feet get very hot, too the point that I have to get up and stand on a cold floor( I have been experiencing this for many months) More recently, the depression has become worse and just in the last few days I am having palpitations. I have always had palpitations periodically but the last few days its been more or less constant and I am very breathless too( not being able to finish a sentence when speaking because I run out of breath). All this is making me really worry and I can't get an appointment with my doctor before monday. I have been looking at these symptoms on the web and i'm confused as to whether they are symptoms of a thyroid problem or anemia( as the symptoms are similar to both). Any advice very welcome. Desperate to know more.

Hi Dulcie,
My god, you've had it rough!
Your symptoms could be either that of anemia or thyriod, the only way to know for sure is by having a blood test, unfortunatley its the only way to diagnoise either.
A lot of the symptoms you describe are common with both problems as im sure you are aware (im presuming you've ruled out any links with any medication you may be taking?).
Sorry i cant be of more help to you, but please let me know how you go on, but in view of your past medical history i think you should get back to your doc for an earlier appointment.
Good luck
Linds
