I have a piece of bone starting to come out just to the side of the ridge on the lower right side of my mouth. (I had all teeth extracted and immediates placed)

I am wondering if this is from the tooth or actual jaw bone I'm seeing and feeling? I would try to pluck it out myself, but, I'm worried that if it's part of my jaw bone, I will do some terrible damage. It seems unusual that it would be part of my actual jaw bone, but, nonetheless, I have no idea where it's coming from. It's not causing a whole lot of pain, but it seems to be keeping that area from healing completely. I do not wish to have my gums cut into again, but I may have no choice???

Any ideas? I'm more worried than anything. I have heard that they will work themselves out of the gums or shrink back and settle down into the gums....which is it? Or is it both depending on the person and situation? If it's not going to cause me any harm, I will just wait it out until it either disappears or comes out altogether.

PS: Have an appt. next week, but until then, can I do anything or should I worry about it at all?
