I had my teeth cleaned today. I was fine when I left but 6 hours later one area hurts on and off. It doesn't feel like the gums, more like a slight toothache. I had a full set of x-rays because it had been 3 years and everything was normal no abscesses or decay. Has anyone else ever felt a pain after a cleaning?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless it persists beyond a couple of days, or gets worse. The hygienist probably poked and scraped and prodded a lot and you're understandably sore. You can try salt water rinses to make it feel better, or even some Tylenol.

Be sure to call your dentist if you continue to have problems, but I don't think your case is unusual :)
