was diagnosed 30 yrs ago and until recently have had few but managable problems. In the last few years the fatique has been worse and a Dr a few years subscribed amanatine which I saw no immediate results. I saw on this board--which I am new to--that this drug had to be taken for months to see the benefits. What have any of you gotten out of it and how long taking it. What problems are helped?? Thanks for any input.

Hi there,
I've been takine Amantadine for about 7 months. Originally it was meant to ease the tremor but I've also reaped the benefits of decreased fatigue.

I'd say that the tremor has been reduce by about 75% and the fatigue about 50%.

Stick with it for a while. You can't really judge the effects of the medication unless you give it the recommended time.

I would say Stick with it I take 100 mg. every morning and 100 mg. eight hours later and my fatigue issues are almost gone, I was on 100mg.daily for 2 years before we had to increase the dosage so try and keep to a low dose as long as you can You will see a differance . Good luck perserverance pays off.

I've only been on it 2-3 weeks, but except for the odd day here and there it really helps my fatigue. Sometimes, though, it actually makes me sleepy within an hour or so of taking it... But IN GENERAL I think Amantadine is a godsend!
