Hello,

I am looking for some feed back from other Byetta users. I am not using it but Dr wants me to start. I have no insurance and it's very expensive. Anyone using it, I'd like to hear what your experience has been.

Thank You,

Sandy

I work with a man who uses it and loves it. He will soon be taken off of his oral meds.

I'm on my 11th day using byetta. I'm type 2 and using byetta as a stand alone treatment. My experiences during the first week have included headache, nausea and dyspepsia (belching). Still having nausea ,but not everyday and it doesn't last very long' using rolaids which is helping "the burps." I've also lost 6 pounds during this time and hope that aspect continues. I've found that I cannot finish my meals because of feeling full. I plan to keep using it because my sugars are great! 2hpp bs 84-117.

Oh thank you for responding. Do you actually throw up or just feel sick? What were your sugars before Byetta? Do you take any other medication for other things and if so, any problems since using Byetta?

Thanks again, Sandy

Okay I have been on Byetta for almost 3 months and absolutely love it. I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic back in june and for the 1st 2 months they had me on Glucophage which was not helpin me so my diabetes educator and dr recomended the Byetta and put me on it.. I did get sick at first but after a week or so it subsided. The weight loss from the Byetta has helped. I now am on the Byetta alone and it seems to work...matter of fact it is workin so well that in a year they plan to have me off all medication and just control my diabetes with diet. I would recommend this medication to anyone because the nausea is so minor that u wouldn't be bothered by it but the reward of takin the medicine are so worth it!
And Sandy S it is worth it despite the no insurance issue .......I am insured but my insurance will not cover it because they feel it can be treated with a oral medicine rather than injection. But the $200.00 a month truly is worth it.......well I hope that I was able to help you with any questions you had!

I don't vomit at all, just nauseated. Had bad case this am after breakfast, but it finally subsided. I was taking amaryl, but my doctor took me off before
starting byetta. My fasting blood sugars were running 120-160 and are now
72-106. My copay is $46.00 and if you can afford it , I'd say go for it.
