I can not believe I have to go back to the podiatrist! I went last year in November and I have never had ingrown toenails ever. So, at the time I figured it would grow back normally and it is not! I can not believe it is growing in to my toe!! Now, I have to endure the painful shots!!!!! OMG! I can just feel it! Now I am telling to kill the cells so it will not grow back! I'm so mad!!!

unfortunately all it takes is getting it once.. not everyone gets them again though, so that's why they don't kill the root of that portion of the nail unless they have to. My brother wound up getting that surgery to remove the nail root last year for ingrown nails. I've had them for years, but they never got that bad. Unfortunately just this week though I got one that was really bad.. went to the ER Wed early morning for the pain cause it wound up getting infected.. they started me on antibiotics and pain meds. Then I went to my podiatrist later that day (strange coincidence is that I had the appointment for a month for my other foot.. talk about timing). He cut the strip of nail that was bothering me (not the root though). I hope mine heals ok. The shots of novacaine didn't bother me.. my pod. used stuff to freeze the skin so I wouldn't feel the needle. I always heard horror stories of docs putting needles through the toenail, but thankfully he just stuck me at the base of the toe (whew!).

I have ingrown toenails terrible, and if I try to cut them myself I end up making them worse and I'm in pain. I found a really good nail salon that I go for pedicures. I don't look at it as pampering, I look at it as health care! This girl is really good, she clips the sides of the ingrown toenail with the cuticle nippers upside down. I wouldn't dare try it at home, but it gets that digging edge out! It does come back, thats just the way the nails grow, they follow the same path. Once they curve, they keep curving....
When my toenails start hurting, I know it's time to go in for another pedicure.....
you have to find someone who knows what they're doing. I found this girl by accident and she is just a godsend!
