We Are Going To California The Day After Xmas For One Week. We
Live In Ny. The Plane Flight Is About 6 Hrs. Plus Time Spent Traveling To And From The Airports. We Normally By Water
At Babies-r-us But I Don't Want Bring A Big Jug Of Water With Me. Is It Okay To Use Tap Water For His Bottles Or To Buy Small
Water Bottles Like Poland Spring. My Son Will Be Almost 6 Mths The End Of December.

Personally, I would use the water he is used to, but there is nothing wrong with giving a baby tap water as long as it's city water and not well water. If you switch, he might get diarrhea for a couple days but it wouldn't harm him. You can ask your doc what they think too.

We also buy infant water for my DS who is 5 months. When he was 3 months, we went on vacation for a week, so what we did was for the plane and the time to get to my mom's, we filled a few small water bottles with the infant water. It worked well. And then when we got to my mom's, she had bought a few jugs of his water to use while we were there. I am not sure if you could or not, but you could always buy some water once you got out there, but maybe you won't have a vehicle or a way to get it. If not, then you could at least see how many little bottles you could fill up with the water, and then once you're out there, I'm sure using tap water would be ok, but like jmcummins mentioned, it may give your son some tummy troubles. So maybe your best bet would be to use just a brand name of bottled water like you had said.

my doctor/ped told me I should use tap water instead of bottled. We have a filteration system built into our sink though so I use that.

what is wrong with well water? I have well water and gave it to my dd who was just on formula and we had no problems, and my ds uses the well water when he gets formula, and now that he is on cereal, I use it to mix the formula, so that I can make the cereal, I don't have my pump yet. I also use bottled poland spring water. I never used nursery water, doc told me I can use whatever I wanted, we even have natural springs here, and we have used water that comes off the mountain and filters through the rocks before.

but I think you can just get a few smaller bottles while you are traveling. good luck

Yea, that kinda scared me about the well water. That's what we have. Is there something wrong with using it that I don't know about?! We've had our water tested and are told its fine to drink.

Thanks everyone. Our original vacation was Cancun but the recent
hurricane changed those plans. I was afraid of the water there and where
I was going to get safe water in Mexico. I guess I'm worring about
nothing. It's true there are Wal-Marts everywhere and I can just bring
a couple of small bottled waters for the flight. Thanks.

If you need to use tap water and are worried about it then boil it first and allow it to cool before giving it to your baby. That will kill off any nasty things in the water. My DD is breastfed but she has a gummy eye and the Health Visitor said to use cool-boiled water because it is sterilised.

I don't think there is anything wrong with well water, we use it for DS. Dr said no need to boil it, she asked if I drank it, and I do, and possibly because I did the whole time I was pregnant he was used to it. She told us that she would definetly boil city water though. City water has traces of feces, nail polish, shampoo, even drugs in it! As for bottled water, it is pretty much just city water in a bottle, there is one company that their water actually comes from the Hudson river!
Have fun on your trip!

I just switched DD to my well water last week when my friend told me I was crazy to keep buying her bottled at this age (6 months) . She hasn't shown any effects from the change and seems content.
