Hello I was just wondering if any of you get shooting pains? I get them in several different areas: my toe, shins, chin, collarbone and outer labia. Only one place at a time when it is happening. but for several hours and sometimes days it will be in one area. It feels as if someone has plunged a needle deep into my skin and then the pain shoots up from where it started. It has woke me up. It last only a few seconds at a time but it is so painful it makes me almost scream. They hit out of the blue and then goes away only to hit again a few minutes later. I don't have a dx, my primary doctor thinks maybe MS (I have had vision problems, leg problems and the feeling of skin being raw but no damage) but the neuros say that since my brain mri is normal that it isn't. They think it is depression, I have never heard of depression waking a person in the night with stabbing shooting pains. Anyway I was just wondering if any of you experience this. Thanks

"Depression" is the DX doctors give when they are too lazy or too incompetent to figure out the real reason you are ill.
It some ways, it sounds like Lhermitte's sign, which can also be a sign of MS. If you had lesions from this, they would most likely be in your cervical spine NOT your brain. Did the MRI also cover the cervical spine? My Lhermitte's wakes me up in the middle of the night sometimes with shooting pains down my back that go into the crotch area. Also it sometimes ( a lot of times) goes down my legs and arms as well.
I hope you find answers soon.
