1 - I recently started taking Estroven, Omega 3 (fish oils), vitamin C, and I also take a water pill for high blood pressure. I am feeling extremely tired. When I hit the bed, whether tired or not I fall right to sleep and feel tired all day long. Can this be a side affect of the pills I am taking?
2 - Is anyone experiencing my scalp being very very itchy
Please advise if anyone knows what I'm talking about

If your blood pressure was high and the meds are working, you may experience some tiredness. If you have crushing fatigue, I'd suggest a thyroid workup before you worry. Thyroid issues are common in women in 40-50 group and hypothyroid will most definitely make you feel cold, tired and depressed.
One of the Peri symtpoms is crushing fatigue, so maybe it is just that.
Also, if you are having very heavy bleeding, you might have anemia.

I haven't even had a period for 2 months!!! I've had my thyroid check over and over again. It's always normal. My blood pressure is normal with the meds, so maybe I'm just in the process of getting sick or something. It is so hard to tell any more what the heck is going on! Thanks for your reply

I assume your thyroid doc knows that they have narrowed the range for "normal."
Also, if you are very close to being out of range, some people respond with thyroid meds in feeling better.
There is enough stuff going around...hope you're not getting sick or at least get well quickly :-)

I'll bet your doctor also only tested TSH, right? TSH could be in normal range, it is your free T3 and free T4 that could be out of whack. See if you could possibly convince them to test that as well. And as kittenlover said, the ranges for TSH have changed as well, though many (most!) doctors still go by the old ones.
Perimenopause also causes "crashing fatigue" so that could be it as well.
And as already said, there's also lots of cold/flu going around now, could be just a combination of things. But if you don't have or do not get other cold-like symptoms, I'd consider getting a more complete thyroid workup. If that still all comes out okay, then it probably is just the fatigue of menopause. It does get better.
Let us know how you are doing.

I have two different problems:
1 - I recently started taking Estroven, Omega 3 (fish oils), vitamin C, and I also take a water pill for high blood pressure. I am feeling extremely tired. When I hit the bed, whether tired or not I fall right to sleep and feel tired all day long. Can this be a side affect of the pills I am taking?

I'm not sure if the vitamins you are taking are causing these symptoms, but I also dealt with the itchy scalp...which caused me to switch shampoos to an anti dandruff formula even though I did not have dandruff.
Then there is the crashing fatigue which can be caused by our shifting hormone, but also diuretics can affect your electrolytes which affects your potassium levels...which can cause crashing fatigue. What a cycle . Once again I've also experienced this when I was taking Microzide for my blood pressure. I'm no longer taking Microzide, but I've learned to increase my potassium levels by eating foods rich in potassium like yogurt and orange juice.
I hope that you find relief soon :).

I'm almost positive they tested all the thyroids tests that you mentioned (not 100%) but I'll ask. Have they just recently lower the results? I will give it a couple of days and see what happens. I want to be normal again, if that is possible,
thanks again for the replys

Poslusny,
I was diagnosed w/ mild hypothyroid in my 40's but I had what I called "debilitating: fatigue (but its probably chronic fatigue syndome) when I was suddenly hit with peri-symptoms at age 50. I would be tired day/night. I would feel really tired, no energy at all, but could not nap during the day and had a hard time falling asleep. It wasn't the kind of tiredness where you know if you just slept for a while, you would feel better. I would go to sleep tired, wake up tired, and was totally useless. It took me about 4 hrs each morning just to get going (shower, brush teeth, dress). I had to lay down almost every 15 mins. All very scary to me b/c I have always been so active. I believe during peri and if you have a thyroid condition on top of it, it really gets your hormones wacked out even more so. I've read in Dr. Christine Northrup's book and couple of others that during meno, your thyroid test could also show up normal but yet it could not be functioning right.

Molly,
How do you get the doctors to listen to you?????? I am trying everything to be normal again. Every time I start feeling better, something else brings me down. You feel dead to the world. The past couple of nights, I have been so anger or whatever the right word is towards my son. He has to think I hate him. I try to explain what's going on and I calm down with him, then I start again. Does life start to get better again or is it over???? Every new symptoms I get I think it's over -- done.
