View Full Version : Emergency! Crown fell off.

Hi folks-
Have a bit of an emergency. It's really more cosmetic than anything else.
A temp crown fell off (upper tooth one behind the canine)just now and tomorrow night I have a very important social "thing" where it will definitely involve having to smile a lot!

I wouldn't care if it were a molar or a tooth further back but this is a very visible gap.

Already have an appt. to see my dentist Monday to start the final crown process, but what do I do in the meantime...for Saturday night? I just have to get through ONE dinner....

This temp was made for me during a crown lengthening procedure so it was a very precarious fit to begin with and toothpaste won't hold it.

Do drug store emergency cement kits work?

If you can't get into the dentist to get your temporary cemented back on I would try the kit from the store just to hold it in place. If you don't keep temp. crown in then the teeth start to shift and your permanent crown will not fit.

Thanks jdream....the crown fell off only last night...I'm going to the drug store now for a "Dentemp" kit which is a temp cement for emergencies like you say......

Hope it holds til Monday when I see my dentist.

Thanks again!!!!

I think you should carefully hollow out the inside of a chiclet and place it over the affected tooth. This is common dental practice here in rural Georgia http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
