View Full Version : Doctors giving me no answers......

Hi all,

I have been trying to post but have gotten back limited answers or experience stories. I'm going to try again.... Just a brief history:
About 8 months ago I decided to change my job from traveling to being in the same town, but doing similarly the same thing. Once I decided to change this the next week I was in the hospital with possible appendicitus. Nothing ever came of it, they just gave me some antibiotics and some pain meds and I went home and was off work for about 2 weeks. Then my wife and I moved, I kept having the lower right abd. pain and went to the doctor where they told me it was IBS. Ok..... They gave me some meds to stop spasms in my intestines...It seemed to work for a while...It came back and I now had stomach pain and a little burning in the lower throat. They put me on Prevacid 15mg once a day and Wellbutrin XL....They thought it was my nerves and GERD. NOW, I am on Prevacid 30 mg twice a day, but not the Wellbutrin because of side affects...

Here are my questions...The main reason I have to take the Prevacid is stomach pain, and some throat burning. I have been to the DR. explained what is going on but they don't seem to think much of it. I want to know if this problem is only going to get worse....

I am not as happy as I was with my other job, could stress be causing all my problems. Because I never really had any of this before I decided to move.....

I am going to my ENT Monday to hopefully get him to scope me and look at my throat.....Thanks for any insight.

I think seeing an ENT is a good idea and I do agree that it could be stress related as well.. I dont know how old you are but have you ever been screened for colon cancer or polyps? The reason I ask is NOT because I think you have that but I have a dear friend of mine who went to the doctor complaining of lower right pain (intestinal area) had some trouble with bowel movements they told him it was IBS as well..... Well he went back complaining and they finally did a colonoscopy and a polyp was found and then tested and found to be cancer...Just food for thought

Went to the Ent and they did scope me. The worst part was they didn't use the numbing spray because of my anxiety. They said it causes your throat to feel as if its closing off. Everything went pretty good, they said my throat was red and irritated but nothing bad.

My next question is why do I have this stomach pain when I either have an empty stomach or dont take my prevacid? Its quite painfull....
