i have a problem that my docs cant seem to sort out so any ideas would be welcome.
i am having really bad cramps in the lower abdominal area and also in the area of my ovaries.
this seems to be happening even when i am not on my period.
i have been for an ultrasound scan today, but they cant find anything wrong with my womb or ovaries, also i had a mirena coil fitted 11 weeks ago and they thought it might have moved but it hasnt and i dont want to have it removed because my heavy periods will come back.
i am 49 and in peri and on top of all the other problems with peri this is driving me mad.
anyone have any ideas?

You may have Endometriosis or Adenomyosis.
I would recomened a Laporoscopy and a MRI to see the size of the Uteris.

I had to respond because I've been dealing with this for close to a year now. I too have had pelvic ultrasounds, etc. and all returned a negative or negligible results. I'm now on a new birth control pill and have been told not to take the break between pills, just keep taking them daily. This effectively shuts down your period which is a real bonus. The feeling of constant PMS (cramps, bloating, etc) is finally going away. I'm on Yasmin, although I suspect there's many alternatives. It was actually my family doctor that seemed to find the best solution here. I can certainly understand where you're coming from. I thought I was going crazy after nearly a year of daily cramps and bloating. I don't know how long this solution will last, but at this point I'm going to take what I can get. I hope you're feeling better soon.

hi djl
i have a gyno but he seems absolutly clueless and has referred me back to my gp.
i see my gyno in about three months time and although i have requested to see him earlier he has refused to do so.

my gp is trying to do everything she can, it was she that referred me for my ultrasound scan.

BOY does that sound familure !! I pretty much went through the same thing with my gyno !! My GP does not like him!! I ended up seeing a new gyno after about a year going through gastro test, numerous blood work ups and constant ovarian cysts and constant massive unbearable pain !!
My new gyno is great !! He listened and I ended up having a hyst. (everything removed but my cervix) and NOW I feel AWSOME !!
It is good your GP is sending you for an ultrasound. You will also need an Transvaginal done as well. I would also recomed a possible MRI but the best test is the Laparoscopy.
Youi said you had Endo 12 years ago?? Then that is what it may be again. I had Adenomyosis (internal Endo of the Uteris), PCOS, massive size ovarian cysts, and severe case of Pelvic Congestion. My old Gyno new about the massive cysts and also new that my uteris was enlarged with a possible mass 8 years ago, but he just kept blowing it off and kept cj\hanging my BC Pill. he kept saying my pain was due to IBS. My Gastro doc dissagreed as well as my GP. They new something was wrong.
Sometimes you have to look else where to get the right answers !!
KEEP ME UPDATED !! If you have any questions let me know !!

hi djl
when i went for my scan she did a transvaginal one as well as she couldnt see anything with the normal ultrasound, she did mention that my left ovary looked slightly smaller than the right one and that it maybe shrinking with meno.
i soooooooooooooo wish i could have an hysterectomy i have been asking for this for five years now but my gyno wont do one.
the only way for me to get one is by going private but i cant afford it.
i have also tried to get a new gyno but everyone insists he is the best and i cant seem to get anywhere.

i will let you know when i have been to see my gp next tuesday what the next step is going to be.

Yes let me know what happens. May I ask WHY the doc wont do a hyst?? May I ask what your age is?? If you are suffering and there is no other option you should get the hyst.
I am 39 and had my hyst 7 months ago.

hi djl
i am 49, and because he cant find any cancer in my womb he thinks that women should just have to put up with this time of life.
my doc thinks the real reason is the expense of the operation.
when i was 43 and started suffering all of this the reason was that i was too young, i think they move the goal posts to suit themselves, in the meantime i am left in limbo

i will keep you updated

andrea
