My DS never had colic but he has Acid Reflux and had some terrible tummy trouble in the beginning. After much research and the go ahead from the Doctor I tried Gripe Water. It worked within 30 seconds of giving it to him. It was a true miracle for us. I used it as needed. The bottle tells you the dosage and not to exceed a certain amount in a 24 hour period. It never gave him diarrhea.

I was reading in a parenting magazine the other day that gripe water doesn't really have any effect on colic. It's water that just has different herbs in it. I'm not sure if that was true or not, neither of my sons had issues with colic, so I never used it. In fact I had never heard of it until I was reading a different post on here.

I used it becasue DS had really bad gas. Like Karen said, it worked within a minute. It never messed with his stool. There was something on the packaging that said if your baby falls asleep, don't be worried. It's not due to the ingedients (which are all natural) it's because they have some relief finally and they can relax. Hope your little one calms down soon.

It has worked miracles for my dd. I was just wondering how long you kept your son on this medicine.

After reading a thread on this board I bought a bottle of gripe water from a local indian grocery. The only active ingrediant was terpenless dill seed oil (not sure if all brands are made of the same ingrediant). Anyway, it seemed to help my 6 week old immediately and the biggest thing I noticed was that she was sleeping more during the day. I called my ped. a bit concerned and he said that the herbal ingredient was not something that would cause sleepiness but that she was probably just more comfortable (less gassy) as a result.

For about a week i gave her 1 tsp 3 times a day. I now give it to her when I notice she is extra fussy/gassy. she never got diarreah at all.

I only used it as needed.....Sometimes 3 times a day sometimes not at all. He's 5 months old now and I haven't given him any since he was around 2 1/2 months....Thankfully all our tummy troubles seem to be behind us. I really never considered it medicine, as it's not a medication, just our natural miracle cure! :D

Theres a product called infacol, which i used on my dd for colic, gripe waters okay, but generally just helps with burping.
You just put a few drops of the infacol in with the feed, i swear it worked wonders for my dd.
