I have been taking Yasmin, the birth control pill, for 3 years in April. I am so tired of being on the pill! It reduces my sex drive, I feel nauseas if I don't take it on time, I'm emotional, etc. I want to stop taking the pill in two weeks when I start taking the placebo pills. I am just worried about the side effects I will experience if I stop taking them. I am not worried about how it will effect my period because before I went on the pill it was regular and I didn't have too bad of cramps, it just lasted a little longer which is no problem. I think another reason that I'm tired of taking the pill is because I'm afraid that if I'm on them for too long I won't be able to get pregnant. I am married and I want to have a baby here in the next few years. We can use condoms until we decide to try to concieve. What will it be like when I stop taking my pills? Should I talk to my doctor about this, or is this something I can do on my own without talking to him? I appreciate any hep you can give me.

Thanks in advance!

Hiya. :)

I was on Yasmin b/c and stopped taking it about 10/11 months ago. I didn't ask my doctor before I stopped the pill because I conceived while on this pill.

I did experience pregnancy symptoms when I started the pill and felt sick, dizzy at times and had cramping in my tummy. When I stopped taking the pill I had some pain "down there" which I put down to being a cyst, and after 2 weeks of stopping the pill, my symptoms faded.

A lot of people have a great experience with Yasmin. Its different in everyone. But see your doctor if your thinking of stopping the pill.

When you stop the pill you can become fertile straight away but not always. Sometimes it takes about 3 months for you to ovulate normally like you used to. Its different in everyone. :)
