Hi


MY TOEnails always grow to the pint where the corners start to hurt. Recently one corner has been KILLING me and even after cutting my nail it still hurts! I dont know what to do? People say dont cut the corner becuause if you do the pain will get WORSE and deeper next time u cut it! SOMEONE please HELP!

it sounds like you might want to consult with your doctor. They can do a procedure by which they permanently cut off a portion of the nail (just a sliver on the side that is bothering you) so it won't grow into your skin. I just got over a bad infection from one so I know your pain..

When I get an ingrown toenail, I soak a teensy piece of a cotton ball (no more than the size of a bb) in Anbesol (numbing agent) and I gently tuck it under the area where the toenail is poking into my toe. I do this after a shower so the nail is soft and it's easy to get the cotton underneath. I leave it there for a couple of days and voila . . . the nail grows past the spot and the pain is gone. Usually the cotton falls off in the shower because the nail has grown. If the toe hurts, you can apply more Anbesol to the area. My mother taught me this about 30 years ago and it never fails.
