View Full Version : Groin area problems

Last July immediately after getting a few awful tick bites that got infected, my boyfriend experienced this awful swelling on the left side of his abdomen. I was certain it was a hernia. The doctor said it wasn't. Boyfriend iced the area for about a week, and the swelling & soreness went down. He said it felt like something was "out of place" down there when he moved a certain way. The sonogram the doctor did showed a number of nodules or nodes or something near the left groin-area lymph gland. The doc assumed it was some type of infection and put him on antibiotics for 2 weeks, then reexamined him. The next sonogram showed the same problem. The next course of action is an MRI.
What could be going on here? I'm still thinking (or hoping) this could be an infection caused by the tick bites (I had never seen anything like them....they were horrible...plus two of the heads stayed in when I pulled the ticks out and I had to "operate" to remove them). Boyfriend no longer has any soreness or tenderness in the area, which preceded all of this. I'm concerned that if this is cancer-related, we've gone nearly 6 months without any treatment.
