I'm not sure if this is the right section, but I've been having problems with my stomach/intestines. Well my stomach/intestines is bloated, so bloated it feels like I'm going to burst or as some people have told me I look like I'm ready to have a baby. It started 4 weeks ago the doc told me I had pulled my stomach mussels my stomach area goes in to mussel spasms that are painful my stomach varies in size sometimes it’s not so bloated. I cant eat a lot or drink to much as this puts more pressure on my stomach Also I've been tired a lot lately and I've had shortness of breath. I have had tests done (pregnancy, blood, sugar, x-ray, heart monitor and ultrasound but nothing was found. I am now feeling depressed and feed up please help. And all water works and BM are fine.
Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

I am having the same problem and have an endoscopy scheduled but not for 2 weeks. I am trying to move it up. Dr. took me off all dairy products, fresh fruit and veggies. Am allowed noodles, rice, chicken and fish broiled. Frankly I am not getting better still keep loading up with gas but maybe it might work for you. I take a lot of GAS-X to get rid of bloat. I can hear the gas working its way thru my system and feel it, also. Sometimes it is painful. Anyway, you might try the diet and see if it works for you. He particularly stressed no mild products.

THANK YOU Canyondweller for your reply i will try the diet you recomended, my doctor never mentioned anything about what i eat as i had some cereal last night and that was it 6 hours of MEGA cramping pains my stomach and still getting slight craming now and still bloated the doctor prescribed mintec peppermint oil capsules but they did'nt work last night i have noticed that milk does not help so i will keep clear of it and try some rice and chicken as i had no idea on what i should be eating. so would it be ok if i bought some gas-x to take as well as the mintec. i will let you know how i get on on the chicken and rice? thank you

 hi i am very worried now about going to the specialist about my stomach as i have just found out that someone i know has the same simptoms as me and has done for the past 9 months but her condition is now worse that ever and she thinks there is some thing else wrong with her as well she had a smear test come back with abnormal pre cancerous cells and had them cut out she seams to think it is something to do with that. i have had the exact same as her i am 9months overdue for my smear test and now rather concerned as to what i have.
if any one and anyone you has gone through this maybe simlar symptons i would like to hear from you no matter what the out come was.
thank you

What kind of smear test are you talking about. Are you talking about biopsies of the stomach or esophagous? taken when they go down into the stomach with scope. I have Barrett's esophagous which is when the cells of the esophagous have become like the stomach lining. This is because of acid backing up. However, my Dr. told me that I should never take anything mint because mint relaxes the LES valve from the esophagous to the stomach(which is supposed to only let things down) When that happens the hydrochloric acid from the stomach backs up and erodes the lining of the esophagous. As a protection the body changes the cells in the esophagous to something akin to stomach lining. Some say it can lead to esophageal cancer. Any cell change is called intestinal metaplasia. So she might have cells changing in the stomach. I ws told the 3 most important things to avoid for that problem was alcohol, chocolate and anything mint as they all relax that valve and allow for more acid reflux. There certainly should be no problem taking Gas-X. Actually I take the stronger one and usually get the drug store brand. 166mg Simethicone. I had a good night last night and so far today. Just got back from lunch with daughters as it is my birthday and ate lightly but did eat some cheesecake. Definetly, milk based but hey, its my birthday so we shall see. I did take a lactic acid pill before I ate it. Figured I could not feel much worse than I felt all day yesterday. I am still wondering what you are having smeared. Where do you live?

hi sorry for not being more clear i meant a cervical smear test and i live in the uk i am 33 years old. well i had a good nigt sleep on the chicken and rice i have only been getting slight mussel spasms it is above the belly button all the way across my stomach i think it is the intestings.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY :jester:

I love cheese cake bought one last week would love to eat it but a bit frightened to eat it though my mouth is watering at thought of it though. :D

i am also concerned with my brother having chrons as he is 35 and he was diagnosed with chrons at the age of 13 but had stomach complaints from the age of 9 in and out of hospital they did not have a clue he had to have a clostomy bag (i think that is what they call it ) were he has had his bowl removed he is still in and out of hospital with the chrons flaring back up. he is doing realy well at the moment though even put on weight for the first time. :bouncing:

I'm not a doctor but I would try to eliminate certain things from your diet. First, milk and all milk/cheese/cream products. Sounds like lactose intolerance is a good possibility. I am lactose intolerant and at times it is worse than other times but when I really blow it..(ice cream) boy do I know later. I drink lactaid milk..works fine There are pill you can take as well but I'm on enough already..just take a week or two and give up all milk based products. Read the labels carefully because you will be surprised at what milk goes into.

Doubt if what you are experiencing relates to missing a pap exam. you better schedule one since you should be going annually for that. There are so many food type alergies that can cause your bloating and stomach pain. As far as chrons disease, you mentioned that you did not have any diareaha issues/bm problems. Chron's is tough but there are a number of symptoms that go along with it. I would focus first on your diet. stress also can cause some stomach aches also.

I, too have been experiencing this bloatedness, feeling like a helium balloon. Sometimes I feel short of breath, too. However, I know that my diet is out of whack because of stress. I have been drinking hot chocolate, eating eggs, cheese, and fried foods. I am going to try to fast for one day just drinking distilled water to see if I will feel better.

If you are eating fried foods, cheese and anything chocolate you have reason to be bloated. Eggs not so bad for most people. Those are all of the things they tell you not to eat if you have digestive problems. We all have stress. None of thoe foods will help your stress and in fact will probably cause more as they can affect your breathing. The more gas and bloating you have the more room is taken up for the stomach and less for lungs. As someone with Emphysema I know this all too well. The fried food and the hot chocolate are probably the culprits unless you are talking a lot of cheese. If you smoke that can also cause bloating and gas and of course breathing problems. You need to revamp your diet completely and eat some healthy food.

hi jossr i have the same syptoms but i dont eat fatty food or fried and i dont eat a lot of dairy products but i do smoke the shortness of breath is sometimes frightning but i find the worst thing is the stomach spasams i dont seam to get them as bad but i feel as if i am going to thow up and can not hardly breath and i start shaking feeling all light headed and look awful i have tried the fasting just on water but i did'nt help me it made me feel worse but even now i can only manage a slice of toast in the morning then i would have somehting light for tea. i had soup for my tea last night and felt like sh** all night at work had to keep going and sitting down the painkillers just did not touch the spasms i took 2 co-codamol and the drs have changed my tablets for ibs to mebeverine 135mg but only started them yesterday they seem to make me a bit light headed though what is the best painkillers to take for the spams.

You are so right Canyondweller. I never related a bloated stomach with constricting the lungs. Though I love hot chocolate during the winter, I have to cut it out. I rarely eat fried foods, but I was bingeing. I definitely don't smoke. I took some Mylanta for gas last night and I am begining to feel better.

The main thing is to keep down the gas. I use Maalox Max not Maalox Plus. Mylanta works also but not was well for me. The 166mg Simethicone tabs work the best. I have had a gas problem my whole life. I have been told I swallow air when I eat, drink or talk and that makes it worse. Sometimes just plain old extra strength rolaids works wonders. Good luck.
