tommrow i am getting my wisdom teeth taken out. i planned to have iv sedation, but i called the office yesterday and told them that i was really nervous, and might not be able to show up without taking something before i left the house, so they called me in halcion. my question is if i take this pill are they still going to give me the iv, or is this pill meant to replace the iv? from what i have read about it, halcion is used for sedation, but i totally want the iv, even if means not being able to take something beofre i get there. i just dont think a pill can knock me out as far as i want to go.
thanks

Most likely the pill he perscribed is to calm you down before you get there not take place of the sedation that you will be given. If this really worries you then call his office and ask.
Good luck. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif

Just a note here.....
If they choose to only use the pill...it will definitely knock you out! I had pill sedation when I had a full mouth extraction, and whoa-boy was I out of it! I even had a bad extraction that had to be dug out of my gums, and didn't feel a thing!
Don't worry...you will be fine. The worst part is not knowing how these drugs work and what to expect. I drove myself crazy with worry, and for nothing....piece of cake.
Good luck.
