Hi all
Okay, since he was 2 months (4 months now) my DS has been the greatest sleeper. He was sleeping from 8pm until 6 or 7am. Which was wonderful!! Now, for the past week I have started giving him a little cereal. Only a couple tablespoons once a day. I don't know if it is coincidence or if there is a correlation, but ever since we started the cereal he is waking up between 2:30 and 3:30 every morning. I am wondering if maybe now that I've started the cereal, is it making him MORE hungry???? Or giving him more energy? I was doing the cereal in the morning, but last night I gave him his cereal fix right before bed, then BF as well, and he was still up! The thing is, he doesn't cry. But he is WIRED! He just talks away (very loudly), and moves all around his crib. But he is content! At first I would get up and BF him so he would go back to sleep. Last night we decided to wait it out as he was not crying. He just played in there for close to an hour, then went back to sleep on his own.

It may be but both my kids started waking again at 4 months. I think it was more for attention though. Go a day or two without the cereal and see if he still wakes.

Is the 4 month a mark for a growth spurt? I am not sure since I only have a 4wk old, but the nurses did tell me there are many times when the baby goes through eating frenzies.

It may be the cereal, try giving it to him in the morning. My DS is 4.5 mo and I will start cereal soon too. I do remember reading that some babies will sleep better and other will want to play and stay up, in which case they suggest that you give them the cereal in the morning instead.

My DS slept really well too since 2mo, and last couple of wks he's waking up every couple of hours, doc thinks he may need more food (he's 18 lbs 12oz), so I will try too. If you're giving it to him at night b/c your milk is low then, try giving it to him no later than 1hr before bed.
