Hi everyone, i know that this board gets so many of this topic, but i am soooooooo very scared about it!!! I have to get my wisdom teeth out in, well, 14 hours and 50 minutes and i am scared to death. i dont know exactly what i am so afraid of. i think it really bothers me that virsed, or whatever it is that they are putting in the IV, doesnt really knock you out, it just makes you not remember what happened. i hate the idea of that!!! also, i really am not having any tooth problems right now, and i havent for a while, so why am i putting myself through this?????? i have been trying so hard to put all this in perspective.. like, the doctor does a thousand of these a day, and i really dont think im gonna die from it. geez...i am 22 years old and really too too old to be feeling like this. But PLEASE if anyone can tell me anything positive about their experience at all that will help chill me out about tomorrow morning, oh i would soooooooo appreciate it!!! Thanks!

Watch the IV start to drip...next thing you know they will be calling your name to wake you up fully. Your wisdom teeth will be out and it will be over. They will give you pain pills in case it hurts later, but you may not even need those. Nothing to it. I went thru this recently to have an apicoectomy done. Didn't feel a thing, didn't know a thing, don't remember a thing.
For wisdom teeth, I just had novacaine. Still, nothing to it. Be sure and report back after it's all done.

Even though you aren't having any pain from them, go through with getting them out now, while you are young. I'm 30 and I waited and my dentist told me mine were much worse because they've been in there so long. They were all the way to the root and it was a difficult extraction. I had mine removed a little over a week ago. It's been awful, to put it mildly, but my dentist said if I'd had it done when I was in my 20's it wouldn't have been bad at all! So you're being smart to have it done now~ it will be behind you and you'll never have to worry about them again. Try not to worry about the IV~ all I remember is once the IV started I said a few words to the nurse and then I was out. I don't remember anything from then until they woke me up. That medicine is strong stuff and you'll be totally asleep. Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how you're doing. :)
