My DD is 5 wks old and her gas is killing her and me!!!
Ive tried Gripe water and Gas drops and nothing seems to be helping! She is constantly in and out of sleep. She doesnt sleep more than 2 hours at a time and half the time she is only asleep 1 hour. It has to be a gas problem bc she has that look on her face like shes stressed out and starts shaking her legs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks

We switched to the Dr. Brown's bottles, they are a pain to wash but they really helped. Plus we started giving DS a little rice, but he was two months. I hope something works out for you, it is so hard I know, we had banshee screaming fits all day long for almost two months!

Are you breast feeding or formula feeding? If formula, maybe you need to try another kind, like soy.

Do you think I should call her Dr first to see if its ok to switch to a different type of formula? We are using Enfamil Lipil with Iron right now.......Or do you think it would be ok to switch to the Enfamil (Prosobee Lipil) or (Lacto Free Lipil) without contacting the Dr. Which brand and type did you both use? Did you contact the Dr first?
Thanks for the help

Also, check to be sure its not reflux hes suffering from. My son was the same way at 5 weeks and we also thought it was gas. We tried everything and nothing helped so our doctor had us watch for signs of reflux. He had some of the signs (arched his neck and back after eating and fussed alot while eating) and so my Dr put him on Zantac. Hes a totally different baby now. Hardly fusses and is happy and content most of the time now. Good Luck

She does sometimes cry on and off while eating......Do you know any other signs of reflux? Would it hurt for me just to try the zantac? Is there a baby zantac or something? She is 5 wks old.

You can only get the baby zantac thru the Dr. DO NOT give him any kind of other adult or kids reflux medicine without your Drs OK. The signs that I remember are crying or fussing while eating, arching neck and back, prefers to be sitting up after eating, sometimes spitting up (my DS doesnt spit up at all), Im not sure of the others but I think if you look up Baby Reflux you should get some info.

Yes, before switching formulas you should talk to the doctor. You will have to do a gradual switch, mixing in a little of the new kind at a time. You doctor will tell you what kind to try.
My son was diagnosed with reflux at around 4 weeks old. He was put on Zantac...prescription dosage for an infant, it's liquid. I was breast feeding at the time, and my doctor said to try Enfamil AR (added rice). After about 3 days on the formula and Zantac I had a completly different baby! I only kept him on the Zantac for just under a month, but contiuned with the formula, which he is still on. He's almost 6 months old, and the happiest little guy!!

My oldest was allergic to milk-based formula. We switched to soy and she was a new baby. It's a common allergy. I definitely wouldn't do anything different without talking to your doctor first.

Reflux babies don't like to lie on their backs. Other than the signs already listed I can't remeber any other of them. We are using Isomil. From Similac. However, we just switched it, the Dr didnt' tell us to switch it gradually or anything. And the change was pretty quick.
