Okay, I need help! I eat pretty good during the day and my diet has been pretty consistent in the daytime. I exercise and I think I live a pretty healthy lifestyle. But see, when I go to bed I wake up sooo hungry. I burn off 1000+ calories at the gym alone through cardio so maybe thats why when I only take in 1500 calories. And I go down stairs and I eat and eat and eat. I will have a bowl of cereal, cookies sometimes and a nutri valley bar!!!! Whats up with that. It's like i turn into a fat ol monster at nightime and I cannot control myself. Although I should. But I cannot. But the funny thing is I dont gain weight from this splurging!! How can I fix this and why am I not gaining weight from this?

When You say yo wake up so hungry...when are you waking up? in the middle of the night? or when you wake up in the morning?
Your not gaining weight because of all the exercise you are doing. I dont know hwat your Weighh is ...but you can probably eat at least 2000 calories a day without gaining weight...Before Exercise..that means after exercise you can have at least 3000 calories a day without gaining. Since your little splurges I doubt are anywhere near 1500 calories...thats why you dont gain weight. you should probably be eating a bit more during the day. Do you have a snack before bed? if not you should start doing this...you should not be going to bed hungry.

You aren't eating enough during the day. Even though youre trying to lose weight, or even just not gain weight, you have to eat more during the day to keep you full for longer, such as till bfast the next day. I suggest you eat 4-5 meals/snacks per day- bfast, lunch, dinner, with 2 snacks, one later after dinner maybe an hour or so before bed, choosing whole grain or complex carbs, lean meats, low fat dairy, good fasts (nuts, good oils), fruits and veggies. Before bed, have a glass of milk and some nuts, or an apple and cheese, or some cereal, etc. If you fill yourself up to the point of satiety, not the feeling of being completely stuffed, then you should last till the next day.

Hey thank you all for your replies. I wake up at like 2:00 every morning and I am soo hungry all the time and I guess Im just afraid that if I eat a bowl of cereal(go lean) or something healthy! that I will gain weight and get fat. I am 105 lbs and im 5"5. And during the day I have a bowl of mini wheats for breakfast. I had a veggier burger in a bun for lunch and then some liver for dinner and then I work out for 3 hours(1 hr weights and 2 hours of cardio) and then thats it for the rest of the night. Am I doing it bad?

YES
First of all, working out for 3 hours consecutively is way too much. Secondly, after working out (especially lifting weights) you HAVE to eat: first some carbs, and a bit later protein. No wonder you wake up hungry every night, you're starving your body...

You have a BMI of 17.5, way underweight. Since you are doing so much workout you need to increase your diet. Lowest healthy wieght for your height is 114, you could be damaging your organs.

I agree. You shouldn't even be working out at all really, maybe lifting weights for your bones to gain strength. You NEED to be gaining weight, not trying to avoid it. I suggest you see a doctor and stop this crazy routine youre doing..

You're supposed to be hungry in the morning. The problem with most people trying to loose weight is that they aren't hungry for breakfast and skip it. Breakfast is supposed to be the most important meal of the day. I'm hungry too when I wake up. It doesn't mean that I don't eat enough food. It just means it's time to eat. I don't find cereal to be very filling, personally. It's a good idea for you to add fruit to your breakfast. Even bananas on your cereal will help. You can even add a serving of lean protien. Then have a small mid-morning snack. I usually eat 2 slices of toast or 1 English muffin, low-fat cheese, fruit, and coffie for my breakfast. Then I have a low-fat granola bar for my mid-morning snack.
