View Full Version : Flying and HBP

I have so so controlled bp. Sometimes it is great and other times it spikes for no reason. I presently take Clonidine.

My question is...is it safe to fly. I thought I read somewhere that it is not. My husband's company wants to fly us to their home office for a Christmas party and I am very nervous about all of this and will probably make the situation worse because of it.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I too suffer with hbp and on meds. I recently did a 10-hour flight and had absolutely no problems with it - felt great in fact. I did mention it to my doc before I went on the trip and because I was anxious about it she prescribed .25 Xanax just for the flight which i didn't even use. The other thing she told me (cause it was a long flight) was to take some asprin which I did. I really think you will be fine. :bouncing:

You will be fine. But that Xanax is a good idea for flying.

Thank you all for your replies. I guess I am just a worrrier because sometimes my bp spikes for no reason and it is kind of scarey being away from a familiar environment.

Sometimes I get dizzy (don't know from what) and I have heard flying makes this worse...don't know if that is true or not.
