scares me since he never gets sick! got sick at work this past saturday (12/10) with vomitting and dizzy spells. felt a bit better on sunday-just laid around and was able to keep everything done but still had a bit of lightheadedness. this am his head was fine.....now, he just called and said he feels the spinning coming on.....is this the remains of the flu or is it something more? i worry about him driving his 45 min. commute....and he doesn't want to go to the dr yet since he just had the issue start on saturday...but i think he should go now.

I wouldn't worry yet. Can he take a couple days off from work?
His body needs to rest right now. It sounds like it's the flu - coming on that suddenly.
Since he felt better on Sunday by laying around and taking it easy, I think his body is telling him to take it easy.

The regular ol' flu isn't usually characterized by vomiting and dizzy spells. it could be something more serious that he needs meds for, like maybe an inner ear infection or something. if he isn't feeling better by tomorrow I would make him go to the dr. Dizziness can be so many things...

yes, i didn't think it was the flu but could be a virus......i'll try to get him to go to the dr by this week's end if he's still not feeling well...he's frustrated because now it's interfering with his basketball tonight......that will be the only way he'll go.....
i've been in the same boat though-dizzy/lightheaded since oct with no dx. had catscan and it was clear. having bloodwork on friday to test my thryoid and all other general issues. hope they find something...only time i feel ON balance is in the am's before work.
starting to wonder if it's something we both have...however, i never had the vomiting...his does just sound more viral.

Hmm, weird. Do you guys think you might have mold or something in your house? Weird that you have both had dizziness.

that's my thought too..how would we get tested for that?
does it matter that we feel this even outside of the home?

usually you can look it up in the yellow pages under mold inspection and there are often quite a few companies that do it. I don't know a lot about it, but yes I believe if you have it your symptoms will be there until you get it removed, even when you are outside of your house. How old is your house? If it is an older house it would definitely be worth getting checked out.

Do you have carbon monoxide detectors in your house? I don't know how long it takes but there was a guy in our city that was sloooowly poisened. It took like days.
He stayed home sick for a couple of days and when he didn't call anyone on the third day - they found him dead in his home. He was only sick to start out with.
Nausea, dizzy etc.
Something to think about anyway.

thanks guys...think i will look inot a mold inspection...our house was built in 1905 (just moved in this may after it was completely gutted and redone)......didn't think this could be the case since even the pipes were redone, but worth looking into if not too expensive...guess it shouldn't even matter what the price is if it's our health we're concerned with.
thanks!
thanks!

Not to scare you, but you may want to head over to the Inner Ear Disorder board. Viral labrynthitis starts with dizzyness, vertigo, nausea, and can actually last weeks/months/years :o

I have few months ago experienced a horrible gastroenteritis. Vomiting and diahrrea. Went to the ER, gave me an IV, did absolutely nothing. Vomiting lasted throughout the whole night and then stopped once I must have threw up my entire body haha.
Anyways, I stayed dizzy about a week.
Maybe that's what he had.

vomiting an be cuased by disiness, and can make you lighheaded for a while afte ryou do it, too, so its possible that theres nothing actually wrong, but he could have a little virus or something he ate (food poisening, there are like 20 different types), or there could be mold in your house (that can make you feel pretty icky) has he recently had his blood tested? if he has high or low bloodpressure, or annemia, he could easilly get dizzy/sick, same thing with bloodsugar too, ive been feeling alot like that latley, so im getting my blood tested asap (to fnd out if im annemic) it's too soon to tell if theres anything wrong, but i wouldnt worry just yet~ i agree though, he shold see his docter, if he doenst feel any less dizzy soon
