I hit my nail on the screen door and it snapped my aacrylic
nail and real nail in half. I still have half the acrylic nail
on my finger that is not lifting at all. What would be the
best way to take of the acrylic nail?

Do you have them done at a nail salon? If so, go there and have them remove it and repair it. If not, I agree with the website or the soak.

Another thought for you - many unscrupulous salons use a liquid called MMA to create the nails. MMA has been deemed deleterious to the nails by the FDA in the 70's and has been banned for use as a nail chemical by most of the 50 states. MMA creates overlays that are extremely hard and when the nail experiences trauma, it will break not only the overlay, but your natural nail as well. If it is hit in a certain manner, it can quite literally rip your natural nail from the nail bed. More expensive nails use a liquid called EMA which is much safer and when it experiences trauma, it will crack and will separate from the nail bed, but will leave the natural nail intact.
/since your nail was ripped from the nail bed, I highly suspect that MMA was used on your nails. Doa web search for MMA and you will be suprised by what you find!!!!
