View Full Version : Now I'm Wondering If I Have Anemia...

Less than two months ago after drinking, and three out the four times after that when drinking, for the next day on and off I've felt dizzy, sick, cold, shivering, weak, rapid heart beats and shortness of breath, and a need for water (I drink lots of water so I don't think I'm dehydrated). The first time I felt like this I fainted and later that same night thought I was having a panic attack because the symptoms seemed to fit (hot/cold shiver, breathing, fast heart beat, tingling from shortness of breath, last for about 20 minutes)... anyway, I figured it was because of drinking, though it was nothing like any hangover I've had before and considered seeing my doctor but never did... today when I got my period I also felt the same as I have the last few times after drinking. I have a type of arthritis, which I've read can cause anemia. Ah, and I carry Hepatitis C, but don't actually have it. My dad is thinking I'm just over reacting, but because I now have felt like this from a non-drinking related day, he's making an appointment for the doctors.

Does this sound like anemia? I thought anemia was a constant thing, so I'm not sure, and I don't really feel tired (just weak), so far it just seems to last for about a day, and more on and off then constant throughout that time.

I am not an expert, but anemia isn't always a constant thing. Women lose iron during their menstrual cycle. When I really started feeling the effects from Iron deficiency anemia, it happened in a moment and I didn't recover until I went to the hospital. If you can get your blood tested the next time you feel sick, that would be for the best. The bill you can rack up by waiting and if you have to be admitted to the hospital is far higher than paying your doctor's visit and for blood work!
