Hi! I just switched to NuvaRing which I have recently seen advertised. It looks like a really good choice because you don't have to worry about taking a pill every day at the same time, and you don't have to worry about it coming off or being visible like the patch! It also has a lower dose of hormones which is good for some people who get sick from the pill, and is healthier for long term users. I won't be starting it until next week, but I was just wondering if anyone has any experience using this form of birth control?

Yup, I loved it for those reasons you mentioned. Only later did I realise that it completely screwed up my libido. (I'm off hormonal birth control alltogether now) And it gave me heart palpitations, and gave me vaginal dryness during sex. As for my weight gain while taking it: not sure if it was because of Nuvaring, or for other reasons.

In any case, despite my side effects, I still preferred Nuvaring a lot to other hormonal birth control.

These side effects you mentioned...they come along with any form of birth control. Do you think they were worse with Nuvaring compared to other forms or about the same?

Well, I can only compare to Diane, which is a dreadfully heavy pill, with dreadfully heavy side effects. Don't really know how Nuvaring compares to lighter BC pills, but I would guess Nuvaring tends to be the same/better than bc pills. (Except for the local vaginal issues of course with Nuvaring)

Love the ring. No side effect bad enough to stop it and I am one who is almost "looking" for a side effect when I start something...lol And for those of us who are "memory challanged" their website has a little program you can download and will run on your taskbar.. it pops up and tells when I need to take it out and when a new one needs to go in. So I don't even have to keep track of the 3 weeks in 1 week out.
