Hello all, I'm going to have a heart holter on for 24 hours on Monday, how is it like? I know it's going to record my arrythmia and so on since I get more palpitations than other symptoms due to my PANIC DISORDER, but how is it like when you have it on? My EKG/Chest xray have come out clear so it appears my heart is fine, but with anxiety I get palps, not to mention with chest pains and shortness of breath daily. Also on Zoloft, and you don't think there's a possibility my arteries are cloggy right, I mean for a 23 year old who is healthy and never had these issues daily before without the panic disorder developing sounds unusual. Thanks for hte replies :)

Nah, I doubt your arteries are clogged. You're really young, and palpitations aren't really a symptom of clogged arteries.

Anyway, wearing a holter monitor is really easy. It hooks on your belt/pants and one or two leads from the monitor attach to electrodes stuck to your chest. It's mildly annoying at nighttime because the monitor can get in the way if you're trying to sleep in certain positions, but otherwise the whole thing is really simple.

Generally, you don't take the 24 hour monitor off at all (and you don't shower while wearing it). Other, longer-wearing monitors require you to push a button when you feel symptoms, or remove for showers, but that shouldn't be the case with the 24 hour Holter.
