View Full Version : Is the premarin or coincidence ?

I start off with a little history I am 50 years old. I haven't had a period since June. In October I did have a tinge of blood and one spot of red. This past week I have been having discomfort in my lower abdomen. I even thought it felt like when I would had cramps with period and my breast have been really tender. Yesterday it really hurt and aleeve seemed to help it.

My Dr. prescribed premarin vaginal cream because I have been having burning from dryness for past month. Last night I used cream for first time(1GM) and this morning I have what looks like the start of a period. It is actually the most red I have seen in months.

Now I don't know if the Premarin is causing this or with the other symptoms I have been having am I just having a period. Can the Cream bring on a period or do you you think it is a coincidence in the timing. I'm really kind of new to this and I was hoping my periods were just going to ride off in the sunset. But I guess that isn't going to happen.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you all and take care.

Hi Bonnie,

I am 55 and have mostly gone thru menopause. I did not bleed for several years and they gushed!! Then my gyno and I went thru several kinds and mgs of hormones, trying to adjust the hormones to my body needs. It took about 6 mo. - 1 yr. Now, I take Prempro 0.45 and am not bleeding again.

Be sure and tell your gynocologist that your are bleeding. I do not think you should be. But, certainly contact him/her if you start bleeding lots and lots and for a long time!!!

I know nothing about the Premarin cream. But, maybe the dose is too much? Do not go by what I say, talk to your doctor. I also had to have a vaginal ultrasound and a couple of other tests. Just be sure and keep a watch on how much and how many weeks you bleed.

Take care.

Wannabe
