Hi everyone.
Im going crazy. Really I am. I keep having various symptoms and I just dont know whats causing them. I'll start from the begining. This time last year (oct/dec 04) I was diagnosed with Glandular Fever (mono in states). I was really weak and poorly with this and kept sleeping all the time. I was like this for about 6 months. I kept getting chest infections, asthma flare ups and major migraines.
Im still getting the above symptoms now and my Mono has gone. (Test came back negative). I had some bloods done at my doctors and I was told my WBC was high and my RBC was low and my oxygen levels was low. I wasnt given any medication but I went back for a re-test 3 months later and my WBC were normal but my RBC are still low. Im not anemic and my oxygen levels are still low. I havent had any blood tests since so I dont know what there like now. I hope there normal. Anyway this is my symptoms:
Very tired and sleeping the day away. I go to bed anytime and wake up next day between 4pm - 6pm.
I have dizzy spells.
Nausea
Chest Pain and palpitations. (heart is ok just fast heartbeat)
Stomach pains when I need the toilet (bad ones which go after passing a motion - usually diahrrhea)
Lots of ear infections
Very painful all over pressure in my head (migraines I think)
Stabbing pains once a week in my lower back but to the side. (without fail I get this every week)
Pale skin
Irritable
Periods all over the place
Numbness in legs, feet and hands (turn mottled grey or blue - poss raynauds but need to see rheumatologist)
Constant colds
Limb twitching/shakes and stiffness. (my leg or arm/hand shakes on its own which is a new symptom)
Heartburn.
All of the above symptoms have been witnessed by my family. I just dont know what to do anymore. Everytime I see my doctor and tell her Im sleeping all the time and about my headaches she perscribes me painkillers. She only listens to TWO symptoms and ignores the rest. So its going to take me ages before I get this sorted out. All the other doctors are the same. Strictly 5 minute consultation - 2 symptoms only.
What does it sound like is wrong with me? What should I do? Who should I see? Is there a specalist who can sort me out? Its driving me mad and Im fed up of feeling ill all the time and dizzy.
Thank you.

Sorry no one's replied but your symptoms are too numerous for most here to diagnose, however the one thing that comes to mind is possibly ''Lyme disease''. Some symptoms you desribe are that of Lyme , fatigue ,neuro problems (twitching) high wbc count , raynauds , so maybe discuss this with your doctor for an opinion. Also maybe ''Heavy Metals poisoning'' . Wish i could offer more advice !! harry!

Thats o.k. i would feel bad too with what your dealing with , your doctor can blood test both of these. Sometimes a hair analysis is better at screening toxic metals. People that have lived next to heavy industrial plants can be exposed (via by air) or eating mega amounts of Tuna can expose you to Mercury etc.. Wish you well !!

Hi Mystictiger
Has the doctor tested you to see if you still have active epstein barr virus in your system? It's the virus which cause glandular fever (mono). Or perhaps Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, although some of your symptoms sound gynocological. HAve you had a gynocologist check you out too? Some of the abdominal/female symtoms might suggest endometriosis.
I'd keep a written journal of your symtoms to take with you to the doctor. And be persistant with them. Maybe if they can see it on paper, they'll see something and pay more attention, than just trying to tell them (when they're hurrying you out the door).
Lyme disease that 6foot3 mentioned is cause by tick bites. THe "heavy metal" he mentioned, I believe would be things like lead and mercury that may be in your water supply or dental fillings.
Hope you find some answers soon.

Stabbing pains in the back could either be kidneys (stones?) or muscle spasms in the back muscles in that area. I had some back spasms recently (coincidentally as I've been recovering from mono)... Maybe they're caused by spending lots of time laying on the couch? Try doing some low back stretches and see if it helps.
Frequent colds are not uncommon following mono. Your immune system gets messed up and you end up catching lots of stuff. Did you get a flu shot? (If not, you should ask your doctor about it.)
I've been having some GI issues, too, although I had them on and off before the mono, too. Definitely had the heartburn before the mono. I've had periods of stomach pains and diarrhea at times, generally associated with my gallbladder or stress. Gallbladder's gone now, so I think it's mostly stress and keeping odd hours. The mono messed up my internal clock, so I've been sleeping in the day and awake at night, which just doesn't agree with my intestines.
Also, the sleeping a lot is something that does happen. Lots of people do recovery fairly quickly and uneventfully from mono, but some people end up sleeping a lot for a long time.

Hey guys :)
Thank you all for your replies. I really appreciate it. Mono did really mess me around. It caused my spleen to become enlarged and it was active Mono for 10months which drove me up the wall.
Yup I know colds etc are pretty common when recovering from Mono but the thing is I've always got a cold. I've been having colds all the time since I was about 6 years old. So I dont think this is Mono related. I wish it was as I could just forget about it then and know I'll get better in time. :)
I dont know if Ive been bitten by a Tick. I mean neither my 2 dogs or cat has Ticks. Not that I know of anyway. Can pet Ticks give you Lymes Disease? Im sorry for all the questions but I dont know much about this stuff lol.
Yup I did see a GYNO who didn't examine me and just perscribed me birth control pills to regulate my periods. But I conceived while on this pill and went back to the GYNO because I had a MC. I refused to go back on the pill and I was discharged because he "couldnt do anything for me." Not that he DID help me lol.
Nope my GP hasn't tested me to see if I still have active EBV. I was tested back in July for MONO again and was told the test was borderline. But thats all.
