Hi Aima,
There are lots of food you can eat to help with your constipation. First , lots of water. Then, lots of fiber. Like, whole wheat and whole grains - read the labels. For instance do not get the brown colored bread that says whole wheat. It need to have 2 - 3 or more mg. of fiber. Most breads have less than 1.
They make pasta with fiber now, too. And lots of cereal. The more fiber, the better luck you will have. But, sometimes the really high fiber cereal taste like cardboard. I would say cereal from 2 gms to 6 gms, would be palatable!!! :>
Lots of uncooked fruits (with peel) and veges (with peel, if possible). And nuts and seeds and popcorn. And lots of salads.
Also, walking helps you not to be constipated. But, I cannot seem to make myself do that in the winter, except at the mall! :>
I take medicine sometimes, also. Sometimes, you just have too.

Hi Aima,
I guess there are just some people that get constipated no matter what. Perhaps their digestive symptoms are just much slower than other peoples?! I do not think that you could eat too much fiber or too many unrefined carbs (no refined carbs, like white flour and preprocessed foods). Plus, you may want to think about going to see a gastroenterologist. They specialize in stomach and digestive problems.
Good Luck. Take care.

Every person to make their intestines function properly needs 25 to 35 grams of fiber daily. It needs to be a combination of soluble and insoluble fiber.
You may want to try taking psyllium -- a water soluble fiber twice daily to bulk up your stool-- most people don't get enough soluble fiber in their diets. It make your stool sorta like its lubricated and passes better.
Soluble fiber is contained the inside of all grains like rice, oats, barley, corn and the inner parts of beans &peas-- also root veggies.
All fruit, veggies including greens, nuts and seeds and even wheat bran are mostly insoluble fiber.
Thanks alot wannabe....
I appreciate it...

Aima,
I did not mention it but some people's colon extracts too much fluid resulting in constipation -- taking more soluble fiber makes your stool hold water and it doesn't give it up easily.
Too much Insoluble fiber normally does not produce constipation but in some cases it can because the fliud is extacted in the colon-- leaving a dryer stool.
