I had a terrible night, and I have so much on my plate with Christmas only being a week away. I was up at least 5 times to go to the bathroom. I also had some gas pains in my lower abdomen. I had a urine culture recently, and it came back clear. Also, for the last few weeks, when I lay down on the couch in the evening, and when I get in bed I find I can't breathe very well. My breahting seems fast and heavy. Does anyone else get this? Does peri anxiety cause it? I'm so exhausted this morning, and it makes the depression more severe. When I'm sleep deprived, I notice the buzzing in my feet and head even more.
Anyone else having any of these symptoms? Any response will be greatly appreciated...
Thanks everyone,
Lynn

Hi Lynn, I do believe peri causes anxiety and in turn panic attacks and frequency in urination, I believe anxiety can give us a whole bunch of symptoms. Just this morning I woke up very early, I noticed I couldn't breathe right, I felt my heartrate and it was racing, I got up and stuck my head in a paper bag because I was beginning to hyper ventilate, it passed and then I was fine. I haven't had a panic attack in years but due to my hormones going nuts, I'm stressing about a bunch of stupid symptoms I'm having. If you are concerned about anything specific go see your doctor just to rule everything else out, most of my anxiety comes from thinking that I have a horrible disease from one symptom or another. I've been to the doctor and I'm okay, just peri.
Take Care, Mary ;)

Hi Lynn,
I havn't had to get up a lot to go to bathroom. But I have had a lot of burning with urination had it checked and there is no infection seen. I have noticed in the last couple of days when I lay down I have been breathing heavy and I feel my heart beat. This lasts for a couple of minutes or less and then my breathing seems to be fine. So far I'm not anxious about this just curious. So it helps me to see others have this.(Sorry!) I also have the foot buzzing you talk about. That's annoying, had my self convinced I had some neurological disease.
I also was at the grocery store yesterday and I started to feel light headed and had an anxiety bordering on panic attack. I couldn't think straight all I wanted to do was get out of store. I didn't have these before peri so I'm guessing it is the peri.
Like both you and Mary I have stressed about symptoms. I have even had test and so far nothing has come up. Hang in there and Good luck!

Hi Lynn. About a month ago I went through nearly 5 nights in a row where I was up to the bathroom 5+ times per night. Had to take a few days off work because I was just too exhausted to function properly. I seem to be up only once per night now but I have a new and really annoying problem. I try to run 5km at least 3 times per week. Can't do it now 'cause running seems to make me have to pee. On the weekend I had a dizzy spell so bad I couldn't stand up. All these problems, and more all seem to be related to menopause or peri-meno. I've had all the tests too and all have come back negative.
This is just so frustrating but take comfort in the fact the symptoms do seem to come and go and if the tests are negative then you're not dying, even though it may feel that way sometimes.
Too bad we can't control the timing of the symptoms. So cheer up and try to stay positive and most importantly enjoy the holidays!

I still get the frequent urination at night, which is due to perimenopause. This was one of the first hormonal related symptom to appear. I've also had the frequent trips to the restroom, during the daytime, due to anxiety.
I was off my compounded hormones for 7 days recently and I noticed the shallow breathing returned. I'm now sure that this shortness of breath is due to my hormones, because it has disappeared since I started back on hormones.

Been there and done that many, many times during peri and after. It does clear up for awhile and then may come back.
I am having longer times between the attacks. I think that it is a mixture of hormones and anxiety. I tighten all my muscles and that causes the frequent urination and the breathing problems. I am convinced of this after suffering for 3-4 years now.
When I relax and forget about these two, they go away.
If we tighten our pelvic muscles we have to urinate more frequently and it becomes a vicious cycle worrying over our urination. The same goes with the breathing.
Christmas, and its preparations, can cause tremendous anxiety especially in a peri/meno woman.
Hope this helps.

u know everyone, good question about the breathing. I also notice changes of hormones and changes in breathing. I've been ok, thank God, but I do notice that even though I haven't gotten my period since August 29th, I still get symptoms as if my period is coming or started in then also begins to affect my breathing. I also noticed that allergies have returned along with bronchitis/asthma during this horrible phase of perimenopause. The buzzing and vibrations is totally hormonal. The bloating and weight gain seems to be too
