I belive I am experiencing perimenopause as I have 99% of the symptoms listed here. One I haven't seen much discussion on and I'm wondering if I'm the only one. I'm having a period about every 50 days now. Once I have a period it's like a normal one for me--no lighter, longer or heavier than it ever has been. However, once the period is over that's when my worst time starts. I feel awful most of the time, but for about a week to two weeks after my period stops I am very depressed, have anxiety much more extreme than the usually horrible anxiety, have GI problems--. Anyone else having an exacerbation in symptoms after having a period? I'm getting to where I enjoy the time in between because once I finally have a period it's going to be pure hell for awhile.

Yeah, I can relate. Have been peri for about 4 years now. Been on the birth control pill for about a year and when I switched to one I could take every day (no break between months) my symptoms did lessen quite a bit. The best part of course was my period stopped completely. Still get period type pain, severe some days, but the longer I'm on the bcp the better it seems to be getting. You may want to talk to your family doc or gyno about options. There's got to be help out there for you.

Every woman is going to go through perimenopause differently. No two of us will have the same thing happening during it. As your hormones start to shut down, you will have all sorts of different things happen. If you are made uncomfortable with them there are alternatives out there if you are ok'd to use them. I would suggest letting your doctor know about how you are feeling and maybe you could go on a very light dosed birth control for awhile to get your symptoms under some control. I have been going through peri for at least 6 years now. I did HRT for about a year and it did help when I was bleeding for 3 weeks at a stretch. Now I am just now am having a very, very light pink period after 110 days without one. It was heaven for the last 3 1/2 months. I am 49 and hope to be on the last legs of this time in my life.
