Hi everyone,
Several of you have mentioned that one of your ongoing symptoms are heart palpitations. For the last couple of nights after I get in bed, my heart beats hard in the MIDDLE of my chest...? It comes and goes for a while, and is very uncomfortable. Is this a heart palpitation? My doctor checks my heart every time I go, and says that it is ok (he knows I have intense health anxiety at times because of peri)!
Anyway, I would appreciate any input you may have.
Thanks all--I hope your Christma season is going well!
Lynn

That's a heart palpitation! Or, it could also be a speeding up of your heart for a period of time. I've always had them, even before perimenopause. Sometimes they're scary, but as long as you've been checked out, they're nothing to worry about. If they change in frequency, duration, or type, then it's time to be checked again.

I've had a couple of different types, but the ones I associate with menopause started about 7 months ago with a racing (from 90 to 110 beats, usually it's 65) and also a pounding feeling. When this first happened, my Dr. could actually see my chest pounding. I've been much improved, but now just notice my heart races sometimes (usually at bed time), but mostly like 75-90 and not quite the hard pounding. It used to bother me so much it would keep me awake at night.
