I was wondering if anyone has had a bacterial infection of the intestines and what were your symptoms? I believe I do and the doctor has put me on ampicillin. I do have IBS, but I really don't think this is what's causing the symptoms. I do not have a fever or anything, however for the last week my bowels have not been normal at all. I've never had a problem like this which is why I think its an infection. I did eat a Wendy's hamburger last Sat. and it just didn't taste right. I just wish I can be normal again! Any help or advise?

Fairy,
I had diverticular infections for 30 years --- and some caused fever and some just caused painful -- and an antibiotic would clear it up in 5 days but all of them caused a candida/ yeast type infection and some gastitis that had to be dealt with!!!

I had 2 1/2 feet of my colon removed on 3/4/2002 and that took care of the diverticulars that caused infection and chronic bleeding problem---

I guess I am now normal but BMs are not the same???

I wish you well ~~~Harry
