I'm starting day 6 and feeling good (at this moment). My amino acids are in high gear right now so I feel relaxed, happy, just generally good. If anyone wants to know my "recipe", I'd be happy to share. It's similar to ingredients in NC, but in supplement form - also similar to "thomas" recipe. BUT, oh my, did the vivid dreams of getting my drug of choice happen last night. I suppose this is when the real fight begins with me. Body starting to feel better and mind taking over .... I liken it to a spiritual war. Is this any different than when quitting smoking and you wake up and have "smoked" in your dreams. I actually didn't swallow any pills in my dream, which I think is good. Have the temptation this week because I can obtain my drug of choice if I want. But, deep down, I don't want to. It's holding strong and taking exactly one day at a time. Ok, rambling. Hope everyone is holding up well, and even thriving!

Congratulations on day six, Clara. Oh, do I know about those dreams!! I have mainly drug dreams but occasionally a drunk dream is thrown in just to keep me reminded. It seems that everytime, I get ready to pop, snort, boot or whichever way to get high in my dream, something happens and I usually wake up. The other night, I had a dream in which I was stabbed in my arm pit (don't ask... very weird) with a shot of heroin and it seemed as though I was just starting to get a buzz when the undercover cops broke in (in my dream). Yes, my dreams are very vivid, weird, chaotic and violent. Anyway, I'd love to know what the recipe is that you are taking to help with your w/d and maintain the energy and positive attitude that is so important to me at this time of year. I work with people who are in the late early, to middle stages of Alzheimer's Disease and I love it, but a positive is a must. Currently, I am taking L-Tyrosine 1000mgs, a dietary Hoodia complex that contains all sorts of good stuff, Ester-C and an herb (K) I don't think I'm allowed to mention on this board although it is legal, helps eliminate many of the w/d syptoms and gives you added energy and mental clarity. Sorry this is so long and rambling. I wish you the best of luck in your continuing sobriety and the happiest of holiday times.
Peace, Minx

Hi clara & minxie,

I need all the recipes I can get. I am trying to get off of nc & need the energy & mental clarity first & foremost.

I never heard of the hoodia complex - can I look it up online - I know you cant give me specifics - I am now taking the sAME vitamins - not really helping - they are full of amino acids.

I'll take whatever help I can get - if I can find it in a health food store - let me know.

thanks

Hi there Jewel, yes, you can get Hoodia in most every health food stores and pharmacy's and Walmart. It is usually used as a supplement for dieting. There are many false hoodia products out there also. Yes, you can do a search on it.... tons of info. The complex I use contains other herbs commonly found in health food stores. Hoodia is supposed to control your appetite while providing you with energy. It doesn't really curb my appetite, but fortunately, that's not an issue with me. The best Hoodia complex on the market is called Desert Burn. It contains 100% pure hoodia. There are many other types. I would still like to know your recipe Clara, I like to change my 'recipes' periodically so as to not build a tolerance. I know that what works for one person, may not work for another but I like the versatility in using natural products. Wishing all the merriest of holidays and a New Year filled with Hope, peace and recovery.
peace to all, Minx

Sorry it took a while to get back to the message boards. Ok, here's my recipe:

First thing in a.m. I take 2000 mg L-Tyrosine. I wait 30 minutes and then take 100 mg Vitamin B, and 1000 mg Vitamin C. The B and C are vital to help L-Tyrosine absorbtion. L-Tyrosine is the most helpful amino acid with energy and rebuilding the lost neurostransmitters (the pain meds take away our own natural ability to make dopamine/serotonin).

Then, with a later breakfast, I take L-Glutamine (dosage on bottle), Vitamin E, Flaxseed Oil, Primrose Oil, Vitamin B Complex, Liquid Vitamin Supplement (find a good one in liquid form - absorbs better) and 5HTP. The "oils" are very good for female support - go along way with depression. The 5HTP is similar to L-Tryptophan, so it is an anti-depressant. Also - I take about 1500mg of Magnesium (with Calcium). Magnesium is extremely important with relaxation.

I take another smaller dose of the L-Tyrosine (with B and C) again in the afternoon.

I don't take anything at night anymore, but was taking a third round of the L-Tyrosine (with B and C).

To sleep, I take 2 benedryl and that works for me.

Please make sure you run these by a health food store expert, or doctor ... they may not all agree with medicines that you may already be on.

Best of luck, and lots of Grace!
