I'm 17 and I got my period 14 days ago. I don't think this is normal. I can't keep tampons in for more than 2 hours because they get so soaked they fall out and I have to change my pad ALL the time. It's uber heavy and there's a lot of clumps. BIG ones. I don't know what to do. Also, a week ago I got really bad abdominal cramps. I don't think they're menstral cramps, but they hurt like none other. My doctor just gave me pills for menstral cramps, but I talked to an RN and she told me it sounds like a Urinary Tract Infection. Anyone know anything?

I don't belive you have a urinary tract infection. Your flow and length of period seem excessive. I'd advise making an appointment with your gyno (or have your parent do so) and explain what is happening. Good luck.

I agree with Katidid - you need to get an appointment with your gyno. That does sound excessive. I hope you get some answers.

I agree with eveyone else...you need to see a GYN.You could have an ovarian
cyst or fibroids, although fibroids are uncommon at your age, they are possible.
Good luck to you.

Can you talk to your mom? She may have had similar symptoms so this may help to know what her periods were like. You need to go in or call your doctor and ask. Just tell them how old you are and whats going on. They will tell you what to do. In the meantime, just relax. It most likely is nothing serious. Make sure to take your vitamins and drink lots of fluids to keep your energy up.

Sounds like a progesterone problem. I would see your gyne about this. You could even have fibroids, tends to make u bleed heavily. No chance of you being pregnant or was pregnant is there? It's also similar to a miscarriage. Urinary Tract infection? That's odd. I've had many of them including kidney stones, would not make your period heavy and bleed for 14 days! Symptoms of urinary tract infection is frequency of urination, pain or burning, or no signs at all. Also could be some dull pain in the back, but you can also get that from bleeding so much. Let us know.

I do believe today was the end of my period. Or maybe tomorrow will be. It's been really light today. I'll have to see. Also today was the first cramp free day. I hope this is the end of it.
