Has anyone ever heard of Theracreme (by European Touch)? I had a client (she's been a manicurist for 15 years) tell me about it. I've had three nails separating from the nail beds for the last several months. The nails are growing, but I've kept one extremely short (not even past the free edge of my finger). The other two aren't that bad. I've been to one dermatologist and there is no fungus growing. So this lady told me about Thermacreme. She seen my problem before and said this stuff is wonderful and it helps reattach the nail to the bed (although, after reading this board for months, I believe nothing will actually attach the nail to the bed. It attaches as it grows out. Which is my problem. It's not reattaching as it grows).
Anyway, I've ordered some of this cream to see if it works. I just wanted to know if any of the experts have heard of it and have had any experience with it.
Thank you.
Amy

It depends entirely on why the nail plate has separated from the nail bed. You may have contracted a fungus infection, yeast (candida) infection, bacterial (Pseudomonas) infection, you may be experiencing an allergic reaction to acrylics, or you may have thyroid problems.
Give me a little more information and maybe I can better help you.

Thanks, Marti. This goes back to a post I submitted months ago. I noticed the nails on three fingers separating at the corners. I went to a dermatologist back in August and he cut off two of the nails (I hadn't noticed the third one at that point) to see if there was any fungus. There wasn't. The separating portion is white-the color of my nail tips. No yellow or green. I keep my nails clean and dry. The one nail with the most separation has been kept short-I won't let it grow past the free edge. The nail is growing, but the separated portion hasn't changed. I do not remember any major trauma to the nail. I am on a computer for work every day, so it may have been due to my hard typing (I type fast and am not too light on the keys).
I was told by a client (who is the manicurist) that Eurpoean Touch's Theracreme will help this, as she has witnessed it herself. I have been using it for about a week now and it is just too soon to see if it is doing anything.
I have also made an appointment to see another dermatologist next month.
From what I have read on-line, this Theracreme supposedly combats lifting nails and dry, brittle nails. I just wanted to know what you, or anyone else, if anything, know about this cream.
Thank you.

Ok, if the separated portion is no longer a 'smile' line and looks like a 'frown', I highly suspect a yeast infection. Yeast (candida) does not result in debris in the area of separation, therefore it cannot be determined by culture as fungus can. Yeast leaves the separated portion of nail plate looking very white and travels back toward the cuticle, turning the smile line into a frown line or a 'straight across' line. The dermatologist I worked with while in the salon would prescribe Naftin oointment for yeast infections. Yes, do see your dermatologist and tell her/him that you suspect yeast (candida). This can be contracted in the salon from dirty instruments, implements, files and drill bits. It can also be contracted by using the same files as other people have used. It is also a classic result of wearing overlays or nail polish if you have any symptoms of thyroid disease.

Okay. I will definitely bring this up and make note of the Naftin. Hopefully this will shed some light on whatever this is.
Thank you so much for the help.

Has either of these worked for you? About 2 years ago,,,I hit my pinkie hard on something and it cracked my nail plate so it continues to grow back in but doesn't attach and is white and yellowish in color and grows to tip of my finger and then starts to break off. Then I have no nail for awhile until it starts growing again and it hurts and swells in my finger when it starts growing back. Almost like its to wide for the area. I went to a dermatologist and no help whatsoever. Took a culture and it was fine and pretty much told me that sometimes the nail never does grow back right. Anyone,,,out there,,,ideas?

Hi, Honey 1. I have been using the Theracreme for almost a month (maybe just a month. Can't remember). I haven't really seen any change in the nails.
I've also tried Dr. G's 'Clear Nail' and I didnt' see a change, either. I see a second dermatologist tomorrow (Monday). Hopefully he'll have something different to tell me.
Don't think this helps you at all. Sorry :(

Hi Prtebvr,,,,,any news to report at all after your appointment?
Well, like the first dermatologist, he amputated my finger. Okay, so he didn't really cut off the finger, but he might as well have. He cut off the white, separated part and took a scraping of the nail (the first Dr. just cut off the nail-no scraping). I won't have the culture results for about two weeks.
I asked him what he thought it might be. Obviously, until the results come back, he won't be sure. However, he said it could be. At this point, I am really hoping for a fungus just so I know what the heck it is and so I can get help for it. I have very nice hands and nails and this is just killing me! Especially now with (less than ) half a nail on my index finger. Let me tell you-it hurt like hell when he clipped/scraped it. Good Lord! But, hey, if something is in there, it will have been more than worth the pain.
So, to answer your question...No. As soon as I get the results, I will definitely post them.
