Hi all, this may be an advanced question about the monitor, I am on a holter monitor right now, been 6 hours of the 24 that it's supposed to be on and have been keeping a diary of when my palpitations occur, but got a question, just what exactly will the results of the Holter Monitor be, just determining what is causing my arrythmia? Or is it also going to determine how well or how bad my heart beated throughout my 24 hour period or more? Already have had an EKG/Chest X-ray and am diagnosed with panic disorder and am on Zoloft 100mg, thank you.

The holter will show what type of arrhythmias you have, when you have them (during rest or while exercising), whether or not you always feel them, how fast your heart beats during exercise and while resting (if you also have to write down everything you do, not just when you have palps), etc. It's basically a 24hour ekg.
What is CAUSING your arrhythmias will most likely not be clear, because it can be caused by all sorts of things which are not measured by the holter (certain foods, hormone fluctuations, etc.)

Have you been diagnosed with an arrhythmia yet? The Holter Monitor will record your heartbeat just like an EKG does. The doctor will then look at the recording to determine what type of abnormalities s/he can see in your rhythm.

No arrythmia yet, still dealin'... hum, irregular heartbeat is my main symptom with my panic disorder, along with shortness of breath, always thinking I have heart failure and such even though my ekg/chest xray came out well and my dr doesn't seem too concerned... but does this holter machine determine from the tests if your heart is beating properally for the 24 hour period?

Yes, it does, it records every single heart beat :) Relax ;)
