What is best for me? Eatting alot of chicken, turkey, protein shakes, whole grains, and fruit?
Other things i eat include: steaks(not to often) 2% milk cheese singles, peanut butter, pastas and rice.

In order to get the right amount of protein you need to gain muscle you will need to estimate your weight..for instance: A 200-lb. strength athlete who desires to maintain body weight and prevent protein deficiency should eat approximately 154-164g of protein per day. Eating enough total calories is important as well, because protein needs are affected by many factors including: the type of training that you do (endurance vs. strength), your training history and your total calorie intake. Basically the fewer calories you are eating, the more protein your body needs to stay in balance or to achieve positive status. I think the type of foods you mentioned are the right foods but as I said your weight now is a factor. I also think this question would get great answers on the Fitness/Excercise board.
