I've been off and on different PPIs for about 1.5 years now. What originally trigerred me to get things checked out was when I would bend over and return to a standing position I would get this crushing pain in my chest. Like somebody was tightening my chest with a vice grip. It would last a few seconds - then gone. Then over the course of time - the regirg of foodliquid bile up my throat. Put on Aciphex first...worked wonders, then stopped working, then doc switched to Nexium - worked wonders, then about 6 months after gallbladder removal, I begin getting this burning sensation in my upper stomach so doc switched to Protonix, worked for a while then the burining came back - now on two protonix/day. On occasion I get this attack where it starts as pressure in the middle of my upper stomach area and radiates to my back between my shoulders blades - again like a vice grip squeezing my shoulder blades together. This is a sharp pain accompanied by belching, and regirgitating food/liquid up the throat. These episodes of uncomfortable pain at times lasts up to 1.5 hours - is somewhat releived when I bend over and burp. Doc said this is still GERD. I had my gall bladder removed a year ago after a day of non stop vomitting of nothing but liquid/bile. Went to ER and had gallstones w/one large one blocking the duct. Sometimes at night I go to roll over and have this terrible squeezing pressure in my chest by the breast bone. I had an EKG about 6 months ago that was fine. Does this still sound like reflux? If symptoms still occur on ocasion with 40 mg of Protonix 2x/day - what's next? Also, most recently had a abdomen cat scan for the burining stomach issue. After two weeks the office called me back and said the GI doc is ordering a MRI to follow up on 3 small leisons that were found on my liver - not sure if this could be related or something different ENTIRELY!! So, frustrating ! ! ! ! Anybody expereince symptoms like these?
