This is gonna drive me to drink! Sponsor Hopefully 12-20-2005, 10:20 PM I've had the same vision issues. I went through a period of time where I kept rubbing my eyes, cleaning and adjusting my glasses...and even going to the optometrist a couple of time...only to find out that my vision is fine. Over time this symptom has improved. I C Hot 12-20-2005, 10:52 PM Hi, Yes. I keep having the feeling like my eyes are going blurry so I keep rubbing them and blinking more. I don't know if they are dry or just other meno issues. I'm taking fish oil and hoping it will help. DOn't really know what else to try. Julie :bouncing: HELLASRULES 12-20-2005, 11:05 PM Hi Ladies, Well, perimenopause & aging in general can cause drying of the eyes. Seems quite a few of us have this problem. I always though it was due to all the eye surgeries I've had, but it got worse at menopause. If the eyes feel gritty, burn, itch, and the vision gets blurry then it may be due to dry eyes. Using OTC drops like Thera tears, or the like can help a lot...just make sure they are individual vials with NO preservatives. Also taking flaxseed oil can help with the dryness. My eye doctor said most dry eye is caused by inflammation, and two things that may help are flaxseed oil and vitamin A, both which fight the inflammation. HRT can also have adverse effects on the eye, too. I tried HRT for one week, but my eyes were terribly irritated from it, so I stopped. Hellas molly123 12-21-2005, 12:30 PM The very first symptom I had when I started having severe peri symptoms were dry eyes. Went to the eye dr. for a regular eye exam and a week later, my eyes were blood shot red. At first, I thought it were the new contacts, then I thought it might have bee allergies. But my eyes continued to be bloody red! Anyway, ended up going to an eye specialist and was treated for a year - used a prescription med (Restasis). Finally, things got back to normal but I don't wear my contacts hardly at all now. I agree with Hellas' post too - if you get OTC drops, make sure it's preservative free! laineyk 12-26-2005, 11:42 AM YES YES YES!!!! That was another symptom I never listed ,,,, I have severe dry eye & have had to go without wearing my contacts sometimes up to weeks on end. I use prservative free otc eye drops They have real good one that I can't remeber the name of right now but I will post it when I remember (sometime after menopause I'm sure) hee-hee. I take fishoil w/flaxseed oil capsules & it has helped a bit. Being in dry air with our heat on doesn't help matters so I run a humidifyer all day long. You are not alone. God Bless, Lainey |
