View Full Version : Wost OB in a spot i've never had one after having H for 5 years? Because of DMSO?

I've had this for about 5 years, and my OBs are never bad at all, more just annoying. Well right now I have an OB in a spot on my penis where I cannot ever recall having one, and it's absolutely horrible. I haven't been able to sleep for a few days because of the pain. Well I started using DMSO/h202 about a month ago. Didn't have what you would call a healing reaction in the spots I was applying it too, but then this current spot popped up (never used the DMSO/h202 in that spot). Has it spread from previous spots to this new spot, and that's why it's so bad? (always worse during the intial OB)

Thanks

Tylenol will help ease the pain, or at least it was a life saver for me. I'm wondering, are you having sex with new sex partners...is it possible that you have maybe gotten infected with the strain that you never had before...(e.g.~you've had hsv2 but now you contracted hsv1 from someone? Or vise versa.)

I've never gotten tested, so i don't know which Type(s) I have. I have recently began getting physical with a new partner, but only oral. She has never mentioned having a cold sore or anything like that...although I know it doesn't have to be an obvious OB. Anybody else have ideas?

If you read my new thread called "Baffled....." you will see that my BF is having something strange going on with him having new places breaking out too! This just started so it's a mystery to me too. He has had cold sores (hsv1) for as long as he can remember and these raw spots on his penis since he was in his early 20's, now 50. I don't think that your new GF would have a reason to tell you "oh I have cold sores...btw". People just DO NOT associate cold sores with genital herpes unfortunately, it's just lack of education on the subject. I wish there would be more information like in women's magazines about this...but it's like everyone is afraid to talk about it. Of course, there may be and I just haven't seen them?! I seldom read magazines, I do all my reading on line. I just do not recall ever seeing anything on the cover of magazines about this subject. I have noticed that the Herpes prescription med that you see advertised on TV has FINALLY started to say that 70% of the people that have herpes got it from partners that showed no signs of herpes. I'm not sure exactly how it's worded but something to that effect.

I'm female and my ob's generally occur in either the same spot or close to original ob spot which so happens to be my anal area. This can be bothersome, but when my ob occured for the very first time at my vaginal area, i was confused and wished it could have simply stayed at my anal area as its so much easier to deal with!!

I have had type 2 for 13 months now and have only had my ob move to my vaginal area 2 times. I don't know why exactly, but have a sneaking suspicion that it was due to a, lets say, far lengthier/extended sexual encounter than normal. I have also read posts on here by females who have said that they tend to get ob's more so after sex, especially if they weren't lubricated sufficiently, which then causes more friction.

I'm aware that you are male, but perhaps when you received oral from your partner there may have been slightly more friction/rubbing in certain spots than would occur during actual sex only.

So Audrey...do you think that even though some people who normally have OBs in one or two recurring places...can still spread it to new spots???? I've wondered this? I know you haven't had it really long but my BF has had it for years and now he has a new spot of something very suspicious. Also right after I broke out in it, he got it on his face(from oral sex)...although he has had cold sores forever...he never had them on his chin and cheek area! His previous OBs were always in one or two places always the same spot breaking out about every 6 months or so. Now these new spots? What's going on?

From what I've read when you apply the H202 and DMSO to your normal outbreak area It saturates the skin in that area and destroys the virus. The cause of the outbreak in another area is the virus attempting to travel elsewhere because you've disrupted it in the usual area. I try to apply it in all areas so it has no way to escape.

Keepsgoing........i'm not sure in you b/f's case. Some of the doctors at my sexual health clinic have said it can be trasferred to new "spot", but other medical people have said not so. I dont know what to suggest. Has he had them swabbed? is it possible to tell whether an ob on the face is a typical cold sore or one caught from the genital area........hmmm, i just dont know. I'm weary when it comes to oral and my partner. I've already caught it downstairs, the last place i need it is upstairs!!

I like the conflicting stories from the "medical people"...goes right along with everything else the medical professional know about herpes...not a whole lot! The more I know about herpes the more I'm confused!

I agree with ya'll that most docs don't know much about HSV1 or 2. It is a very tricky little virus. I wanted to jump in with another theory....backpacker mentioned in another thread that sometimes the virus travels up a different nerve path and you get an OB in a different area. And that when this occurs it is usually on the same side of the body. Forgive me if I'm totally off base with this idea, I was just wondering if it could apply in this case.
