View Full Version : Atrial Septal Defect

I was told by my cardiologist that I have a small hole between the top two chambers that were supposed to close up as my lungs developed while still in the womb. Apparantly, she didn't say much other than that, and that my ECHO was fine otherwise, and nothing to worry about. Ok, but when I did some research about atrial septal defect, I've found that the symptoms I've been having that led me to the cardiologist in the first place, are the same symptoms of ASD (dyspnea, palps, light-headedness, chest pain). Though my doc says that the hole is so small it wouldn't be causing my problems. I'm going for pulmonary testing on Friday, to rule anything lung-related out.

Anyone else have ASD; the hole being small enough to not worry about, yet have symptoms like mine? And what did your doc tell you? I'm wondering if I should get a 2nd opinion...
