I was just diagnosed with an abscess/cyst? under a failed root canal (root canal done 1 1/2 yrs ago). I have no pain at all in the tooth or surrounding area and didn't even know that the root canal failed. It looks like the tooth had an apicoectomy performed on it but in actuality, it didn't. I am considering having the tooth extracted and reimplanted due to the location (lower tooth and close to nerve that could cause facial paralysis) and the possibility of fracture underneath the gum. Has anyone done this before and if so, what is the long term prognosis? Any advice would be appreciated.
