I am driving myself nuts. In two weeks my DH and I leave for Florida and for the past month or so I have been getting worse. I want to be excited and for a brief second I am, then, bam!....What if I get sick on vacation? I'm so far away from home. What about flying? It's been 16 years since I flew. I am tensing my muscles more and now am experiencing little spasms everywhere at times. IBS is kicking in and my reflux is worse at times. Why do I do this to myself??
Please reassure me I'm worrying about nothing. I want to enjoy my time in Disney!

SHaron,
I'm new to this but it's seems your worring about things you can't control and all you can do is plan for the worse. What if something gets out of hand what is your plan, who are you going to call, do you have meds you can take to calm yourself down? You need to plan ahead and there3ore planing will help control your anxiety. My wife has very bad aniety but takes no meds becasue she is so organized, thus has less stress. Has OCD but...that's another topic Yes at times she wil get overwhelmed but she has a back up plan.
PLAN PLAN PLAN! And yes you will be fine

I'm pretty organized but I still worry. I know I shouldn't be worrying about things I can't control, but I can't help it. I'm trying not think about the "what if's" so much and just enjoy getting away.
I have OCD, too. It's a terrible thing sometimes.

You said it yourself, "you" are driving yourself nuts! I remember a time when I wasn't scared to go anywhere, but now I think of a bunch of dreadful things that might happen. I think we see too many dreadful stories on the news and on the internet. Because they only report all the bad things, it makes it seem like that's all that happens in the world when that's far from the truth. It gives us a distorted view. I'm sure if we had stats on how many people go on vacation without incidient, the percentage of those compared to the people who run into a problem would be huge, but we don't see it that way. Everything we see is someone getting hurt, something bizarre happening. How many people fly per day and year that don't get hurt compared to plane crashes? Statistically, it is way safer to fly to your vacation than drive a mile down the road, but I bet you aren't stressing when you go to the grocery store? It's the worrying that ruins our lives, not the actual events. I know, easier said than done, but try to think about it realistically! You'll be fine, and you'll have a good time, and then you'll be back home to worry about the next thing! ;) Hope you get some relief soon! :)

Sharon,
As I sit here writing with my Kitty on my lap purring away, I realized something...animals reduce stress and axiety and when you go away you do not have them there to help you. Do you have an animal or something that makes you happy and relaxed? If so could you possibly bring a picture of that item or bring that item if you can with you on this vacation. It sounds strange ...I guess but having a picture or an item could possibly remind you of the things that make you happy or reduce your stress and anxiety. I beleive a lot of aniety suffers have depression issues and I recently went away for work and had a panic attack while away, didn't have any medicine, I wasn't on any type of medicaiton at the time (Paxil..etc) and I think back to how miserable I was. I beleive if I had a picture of Lilly or my wife or my daughter I could have pulled out of it much quicker. I slept instead and only came out of my hotel room when I had to.
