At what age did your periods get longer in between?

Haven't got to that point yet and I'm 49. Still have pretty regular periods although they vary by a few days and type of flow.

I went off the pill because my periods were down to a 1/day/lightday type flow. Thought that I'd just quit all together once I didn't have the mini doses of hormones...

Now I'm 51 and have been a regular as clockwork for 2 years!! AND the regular 4-5 day flow. Plus all the peri symptoms.

I'm anxious to hear the range of ages here too!

I was 48. Had a couple after the long stretches that were 14 days apart, but that only happened once or twice. And a few perfectly spaced ones. But mostly the stretches got longer and longer.

Funny that I just happened to drop in and saw this thread. Seems it applies to me. My period has been every 28-29 days for at least the last 20 years (before that it was every 30 days) and I've never missed but one period in my life (except for when I was pregnant, of course). But right now, its the 34th day, and still no period. I'm 50, so I think it may be beginning now. I'm so envious of my girlfriend - her periods just stopped one month, and that was it. No other problems at all, except an occasional mild hot flash. As for me, I've been having peri symptoms (bad ones) for over two years now. Its about time my period start getting irregular, LOL!

I'm 46, and until a year ago my periods came every 26 days. In the last year they ranged from that to 32 to 36 days. This last period came after 42 days!!! I have all the pms problems, but I seem to get more hot flashes lately.

I took the fsh test and it said I was in menopause, but my gyno said that didn't mean anything as long as I still got my period (not sure if I understand that!) But I'm feeling kinda depressed as the longer "periods" of PMS are really irritating.

I am 44 and I started getting long stretches between periods this past summer-I've skipped two months in a row, then was regular for a bit, and now am at day 36 and have no signs on the horizon of a period starting!

I have also welcomed lovely hot flashes, night sweats, and anxiety into my life since the summer as well. Actually, I've experienced night sweats on and off for several years, but now they've become more regular and have started occurring in the daytime as hot flashes. I also began having anxiety and/or panic attacks early in the summer. I feel good now thanks to some Zoloft-I can deal with the hot flashes, night sweats, irregular periods, irritability, etc., but that anxiety was the worst.

I am 49 and about 2 years ago I missed a period. Not pregnant. The next month I had my period that lasted for 3 weeks, then back to every 27 days for a few months and had a few that were every two weeks. I just came off 3 1/2 months without one :D and have been now bleeding heavily for 5 days with no sign of stopping. :( I am hoping that this is the last hurrah! Probably not, but it would be nice! I also have been feeling my ovaries doing strange things through this period. Made my appointment with the GYN, because that just isn't right.
