Quick question.....is there a link to anxiety and IBS?

I mean, i have had anxiety issues for years. Always something i dealt with myself (never told anyone, as i didn't think it was a big deal). However, a couple of years ago, i began having various stomach aliments. My doc immediatly chalked it up to "IBS" which i know nothing about (and he never did explain anything to me). That was 2 years ago. Now i am getting 'treatment' for my anxiety (finally) and my stomach is as bad as ever, and reading these posts and threads, i am wondering if there is a strong correlation?

Opinions??

I heard a lot about IBS and anxiety on these tapes I bought (even though I haven't finished them). There's probably not much doubt that anxiety causes all kinds of digestive problems. From what I've heard, they often go hand in hand. Although, if it is worse now, maybe the medication is irritating it worse? Something to consider.

There is a coneection. I have IBS too. It is like a cycle. IBS can cause anxiety, then the stress from the anxiety can make the stomach problems worse. IBS is pretty much stress related, but not always.
